Reviews from visitors:
Previous to check in we called and asked if we could have 5 people in a 4 people room (1 extra ) and they agreed and suggested a cot. Fast forward to check in they explain to us the one extra individual would not be given a wristband resulting in no use of amenities and suggested we stay somewhere else. We’d understand if we hadn’t flown across the state to be told the complete opposite but we had already paid and arrived. With that when checking out we’d been charged a $300 hidden fee that was not originally on our bill or told to us at check in, they claimed it was because our stay was during spring break. The resort was nice and all other customer service was excellent but the rooms were small and the service at the front desk was not.
I feel bad only giving 4 stars because the service is 5 stars but the rooms are TINY and the bathrooms are even smaller. They really need to do some upgrades there. The overall cleanliness of the resort was fair. The staff was incredibly attentive though. The beach is great. The location is awesome and the view from our room over the pool was out of this world. We got the large balcony and it was totally worth it! Our balcony was amazing. We actually spent an entire day on it.
Close proximity to the beach, the lobby and other amenities look nice, with a good staff but I wouldn’t be back. The rooms are small with really thin walls, the resort fee is $41.00 per day, and the guests are extremely loud. From barking dogs, music, talking in the hallways, music from the building next door, slamming gate doors, and loud vehicles from the street to name a few. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway to get a goodnight sleep this may not be the place for you. On the other hand if you’re looking for a Las Vegas crowd and noise this might be the place for you.
Pros: Easy access to the beach, resort-charge includes some services for towels/seats at both the beach and the pool, wine/social hour every night, well-decorated lobby, pleasant staff.
Cons: Small rooms in an older building (especially bathrooms), no ocean views, Collins street is pretty rough, limited dining options.
If you're looking to have a hotel to have access to the beach and have a nice pool, The Surfcomber will likely fill that bill. Staff is nice, rooms are clean, and the pool is likely. The hotel building is 'historic,' meaning small rooms, old elevators, and tiny bathrooms. The neighborhood on Collins Street is extremely questionable after dark, perhaps in part due to the COVID pandemic as many hotels/restaurants/bars/clubs have closed and there is very little to do after 9pm (at least at this time).
The food and vallet was expensive but otherwise love the location, love the pool, love access to the beach. The staff was super friendly. I brought my son and we were always welcomed and greeted with smiles, including by the other guests. I would be happy to come back. There were even iguanas near the pool.
