Reviews from visitors:
Just arrived home from a long weekend stay over the Valentine's Day weekend. I was so looking forward to staying at Couran Cove! I had heard such good things about it.
Okay, things I couldn't fault... the rooms were well looked after, and spacious, overlooking the lagoon. Well, the bathroom amenities could have been better stocked.
Resort staff are shamefully undersupported, you could see how exhausted and run-off-their-feet they were, trying to look after a full weekend of guests with only a handful of staff to tend to their needs.
I can understand the pandemic has influenced recruitment and employment in the tourism industry, but the lack of support they received reflected badly on how they were able to look after guests who had paid GOOD money to stay here.
In turn, this shows how drastic the owners and managers of Couran Cove need to change things to improve the quality and reputation of this resort. It cannot continue the way it has... being told at a 4 star restaurant, (on a couple of occasions) that they have, "run out of food" is NOT acceptable!
Equipment for the kids was run down and neglected, and posed a serious safety risk to children. If I were the owner/s I would be VERY embarrassed to see the state of some of the facilities. We did enjoy the pool though, our singular past-time we enjoyed.
I would like to see a response from the owners detailing how they plan to ensure the maintenance of the property and the care of their staff will be improved in such a way that reflects the high cost of a reservation for a holiday which is meant to be filled with good memories and with the promise of a return visit! In its current state, I will not be returning.
Very, very disappointing. Understaffed and under stocked (running on limited menu and food even ran out). It seems it's a reflection of bad management.
Limited opening hours of the cafe and restaurant. Overall expensive meals and drinks. The rooms are good and the resort location is fantastic, lots to see. Only free-to-air TV is available, as the resort TV system is broken (not just our room).
The playground is a genuine hazard for children and a rust bowl. Broken equipment and unkempt facilities are an eye sore. You can't climb up the watch tower in the rainforest walk anymore.
A few staff members are gems and all acknowledge the current bad state of the resort (receptionist, activity centre and pool side cafe staff members - wonderful).
We have been here a few years ago and it's genuinely sad to see it so run down. The resort convenience store is no longer stocked with fruit and meats like it used to.
Management and owners must give themselves a hard upper cut to the face. I've been to African resorts better managed than this.
Beautiful resort in a beautiful setting.
Clean tidy and spacious accommodation.
Unfortunately this all didn't matter because of the worst service I have ever experienced.
90 minute to 2 hour wait for a burger at the pool restaurant at lunchtime
Even worse at the main restaurant. Expecting a long wait we pre-ordered dinner at 3pm with the manager for a service at 7pm. At 6.30 we were asked if we would like our starters? We said yes.
50 minutes later our garlic bread and spring rolls arrived.
Everybody else at our table had finished their mains when mine was delivered.
No wine list and no ice buckets to keep the limited selection that they do sell cold.
The food however when it did arrive was delicious.
Such a shame. Because it could be a fantastic place to stay or visit
Why was our stay poor? Because it never happened. We paid Couran Cove over $10k for a wedding that was delayed due to COVID and they have now ignored all of our communication about re-scheduling for five months. It turns out they haven’t bothered because Couran Cove has been in administration since late 2020 and is now in liquidation.
I recommend not paying any money in advance unless you can afford to throw it away.
From start to finish a very disappointing experience. Quality of the resort is very run down and very minimal staff. Some of the advertised amenities on the website not open or running. No Shuttle bus or carts to take you anywhere. Beach Club Closed. The advertised pontoon for the 4 Bedroom Villa is not available and rented out to someone else. Table booked for dinner given away to someone else. Food took over 1 1/2 hours and still where missing 2 meals. Staff clearly don't care. Staff sitting in the guest areas drinking and smoking. Didn't seem to be anyone running the place at all.
