Quiet retreat with fantastic views.

Just fabulous! Every single aspect of the hotel is 5 star. The 5 course dinner is superb. We are vegetarian and each day, each course was specially prepared for us. Every day the 5 courses were all different and all superb. The staff were exemplary, Albino even fixed my broken glasses. Magda, Eusabio and all the fine dining room staff were professional, but warm and friendly. Superior hotel well worth the cost.
Beautiful hotel, so calm, peaceful and with beautiful views over Funchal
Absolutely loved this hotel. It was spotlessly clean and the staff were the most helpful and polite that I have ever met. We had bed and breakfast, as we like to get out and about, but we also had meals at the poolside bar, the food and service was excellent every time. We had a double superior room overlooking the gardens and pool area with a fabulous view of Funchal. The room was large and well maintained. Some people complained to us that it was too quiet with there being no evening entertainment but that suited us just fine. The hotel is in a lovely location for peace and quiet though a little difficult to reach other areas without transport. You would need to rely on the courtesy minibus which doesn't run late on Saturday or cabs. We hired a car and it was a god send. Most of Madeira is very cobbled or tiled so ladies, walking in heels is difficult. Most ladies wear wedges, flat shoes or block heels. I know this isn't important to most people but I wish I had known in advance. This was one of the best hotels I've had and I can't wait to go back.
Space and gardens and pool and lovely staff. It is in the west of Funchal. Quiet and relaxing
