I don't often write reviews but after our visit at Les Suites I felt obliged to do so:
After we first discovered the Portobay hotel chain in Lisbon 3 years ago, we've been revisiting their hotels in Portugal every year (sometimes even multiple times a year). We're a fan of the boutique feeling, the attention to detail and their eye for quality products, decoration, food,... but most importantly the top notch service and the kindness of the staff. Combine this with the kindness of Portuguese people in general, their excellent clean & pure kitchen plus their great wines and you have an ideal holiday.
Reason I'm writing this review is because the quality of a stay at Portobay was great at any hotel we've staid at, but this stay was beyond excellent. The rooms, the decoration, the swimming pool(s), bars, breakfast, Avista restaurant were all excellent and also great to have in your hotel when you're somewhat of a foodie. But what made this stay impeccable for us was the level of quality service, kindness and attention of all the staff. This is what transformed our holiday from an average lazy, luxury holiday to what we consider the best hotel experience we've ever had.
A sincere thank you to all of the staff. We'll definitely revisit next year, this time with a group of friends.

New 5* hotel in Madeira. All the suites have wonderful sea views. The hotel & rooms are modern and very stylish. We got an upgrade to a split-level duplex suite (perhaps because we stayed during the low season). The room was perfect... We were planning to stay for only 4 days but in the end extended to 8 days because we liked it so much. You have access to the sea pool and the sea through the Cliff Bay Hotel. Superb shower. Very comfortable beds (though I would have liked the option of a feather pillow). Lovely breakfast room (huge windows looking out over the sea) and beautifully landscaped area outside (though weather meant we couldn't use it much). Friendly and helpful staff. Parking space outside the reception area. Easy walk into town (and not too hard coming back, just one slightly steep hill to climb). In the other direction you have the Lido and a nice coastal walk. Lots of good restaurants to choose from in both directions. Not cheap.
