Very nice hotel in monte. Your room have an view over funchal and the sea. The spa (free access) has a sauna, hammam (and jacuzzi but closed due to Covid-19). The hotel has also an outdoor pool (chilly in this time of year).
The breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly.
Excellent small, friendly 5* hotel on the tobaggan run. A short walk down in to Funchal but a very steep return on foot. Free courtesy bus for the weak!
We were the first guests at this hotel after Madeira opened again to tourists during the Covid 19 crisis. We were the only guests for almost a full week, which was a bit weird at first but the staff was very accommodating and even though the circumstances were still a bit strange, they made us feel at home. We can definitely recommend this hotel.
For anyone wondering about the church's bell tower on the pictures. It starts at 9 AM. So you can comfortably sleep in.
Our recommendations:
- Get a rental car. It's the best way to explore the island.
- Be prepared to drive up and down steep hills in Madeira.
- If you get a stick shift car, make sure you know how start driving on steep hills with the hand brake.
We came here for our honeymoon and they made a really special effort for us. The reception staff were really helpful and the restaurant staff friendly and chatty. Great views. Lovely pool. Hotel was stylish and we would definitely recommend.
Excellent hotel staff really helpful and welcoming. Food excellent. Views from hotel wonderful. Rooms well fitted and comfortable. Hotel on the sledge run so is on a steep hill. Would recommend.
