This place has been my favorite stay in Maui. Rooms are stocked with every amenity you could possibly imagine. We came and the owners Jim and Eva left a basket with avocados, bread and muffins. The fridge was stocked with fresh pineapples, yogurts and juice all for no charge. There is an amazing outdoor patio for grilling an everything you could need to cook inside. The owners are so kind and helpful with everything. Plus we got a great discount for paying cash!
This is a family run bed and breakfast but your experience will largely depend on your location in the house. I didn’t realize there were such stark differences in the rooms when I booked as you don’t get that option when booking through a third party site. What I didn’t realize was that if you end up with the “Pineapple Suite” it is the smallest of the rooms and won’t look much like a “suite” but a studio. You’ll be greeted by a toilet when you enter into the room because the entrance into the room is through the bathroom. The room is dated and a little small but it does have a certain island-y charm. The bath stall is abysmally small and the shower head is hardly adjustable so what you end up with is all the hot water spraying into the opposite wall which makes it extremely difficult to get sand out of the lower regions of your body. The bathroom also smelled of mildew and the tv was quite small (it is a smart tv though). There is also a shared washer/dryer on site but that was also heavily covered in mildew. During the days we stayed there, there were children staying and eventually other boarders which is when we realized how the sound insulation was non-existent. Mosquitos and ants were also plentiful.
HOWEVER, this is really one of the most well thought out bed and breakfast I’ve stayed at. The hosts literally thought of everything you could ever possibly need and left it at your disposal. Location is conveniently located close to Wailea and the the shores of Kihei (not quite walking distance though) .
Wow! Eva and Jim know how to host! First I’d like to say up until we got to the b&b we were having a rough travel day. Once we got to the room that all changed and the beginning of our luck started to turn around. We contacted Eva and notified her that we would be arriving later than expected in which she said that it was ok and that our room would be ready. AWESOME! When we arrived at the b&b there was a note letting us know where our room was and where to park our car. As we walked into the room, the room was clean with tons of great amenities including a fridge, microwave, sink, coffee machine and portable stove. Being that it is a b&b typically Eva would make breakfast for guest but being that the government limits b&b cooking because of COVID she now stocked the room with tons of great treats! We had a full basket of bagels, toast, dragon fruit, avocado, oatmeal, oj in the fridge, eggs, yogurt and a bunch more! This was great for us for a quick bite before we headed out for a day out in the water or a hike. If we needed anything refilled she gave us a list of items we could restock on. The next morning I was able to meet Eva and Jim in person. They were so friendly and welcoming. Eva showed me all the amenities at the b&b including washer drier, dvds, reef safe sunblock, our beach chairs, an umbrella, and a cooler! Literally everything! The b&b is located about 7 mins away from downtown Kihei and about a 5 min drive to the closest beach. The b&b sits in a quiet and quaint neighborhood with minimal noise and a great wake up call to birds in the patio and front. When you stay, you are able to go up the stairs to an amazing wrap around porch that looks over the island! Great for having coffee before heading out to explore! Eva and Jim also provided us some snorkel gear which was great because we were looking into renting some out for the week but this ended up being so much better! They helped us find great spots for snorkeling including a wildlife preserve that was 18 mins away that is filled with tons of fish and even turtles while we were their that day! Eva also gave me a number to one of her friend’s that rents out standup paddle boards, she drops them off and picks them up for you! Unfortunately we didn’t take advantage of this because we were on a time crunch but will definitely be back to do some paddle boarding! All and all the trip was still awesome even with a lot of things being closed due to COVID. Eva and Jim did their homework and helped us pick and choose things to do and where to go. They had info on what was open and what was not. I am glad I stumbled upon this b&b it was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast and won’t be our last! Mahalo for everything again! We will be back!
In November 2020 I reserved a room through Expedia for 2 nights in January 2121 at Maui What a Wonderful World Bed and Breakfast. After making the reservation, I called and spoke with Eva regarding some clarification on a few details. She suggested that I cancel the reservation with Expedia and that she would rebook and give me a 10% discount on the price and that she would call to confirm the next day. I also sent a copy of my Expedia receipt to verify the price of $417 that I had paid. I proceeded to promptly cancel my reservation through Expedia. I never heard from Eva again! I called and emailed a few times but absolutely no response. Therefore, I was left with no reservation, and through their website they only allow reservations for a minimum 5 nights. I can only conclude that Eva didn't like the fact that I was able to get a 2 night booking through a third party site, which is now no longer available on Expedia. I can only assume that she never intended to rebook the 2 nights stay because she would rather have a 5 night booking. It's hard to figure all these positive reviews with such a lack of integrity. Final words: Don't trust Eva!
This is a nice and well maintained place (a multi-story home in a residential neighborhood). Our room was quite clean and they have available parking. They also have A/C (portable, pretty noisy so we decided not to use it). We only met the owners few times during the breakfast (which was also quite good) and they were very nice, welcoming, flexible and very attentive to our requests and needs. We would definitely consider to come back and stay there again.
