Fra lorenzo verona Was a wonderful hotel. Friendly and helpful staff( specially miss Fabiany she was extremelly helpful for us professional and kindly). Very comfortable room which is also spacious. Just the right environment to settle down and relax just before a long flight. Recommend you try the hotel.
This is a glorious hotel, small, professional and not for those that want a large corporate type of service. This was our third stay here in as many years, which should indicate how much we enjoy staying here. Yes, it is out of the city up a steep hill but taxis are plentiful or the hotel has a free shuttle service morning and evening if booked in advance. The situation above the city is a huge advantage to those wanting peace and quiet and the Fra Lorenzo has never disappointed us in that regard. Having stayed in several rooms, our favourite is apartment 2, on the top floor and at the far end of the hotel. A fantastic view over Verona to wake up to! Already planning our next stay here...
Lovelly hotel with beautiful gardens with great views.
Calm bedrooms with classic design.
Friendly and helpful staff.
This month we chose to come to Verona for an impromptu trip to see Placido Domingo. Due to the fact that we only decided upon this 24 hours prior to departure, we chose the first 5Star hotel that came up; Relais Fra 'Lorenzo. We booked for two nights and were quite excited to stay there yet we were very unpleasantly surprised. My family and I are firm believers that a place is only as good as its people and the staff here(except for the gentleman helping with luggage)were terrible and made us feel so unwelcome. Upon arrival, although we had already confirmed booking through email, the receptionist (large woman) said that there was none and tried to fault us for that mixup. That should of been the first red flag, yet we continued. Following that situation, on the second day, I asked the same receptionist if there was any study room to do some work or if could study in the lobby. She told me that I shouldn't stay in the lobby and should stay in my room which was very confusing seeing as we were paying customers and I have never had someone tell me I couldn't use the hotel facilities. Her reasoning was it would be too busy, yet no one came in during the two hours I was down there. This felt as though she considered me to be an eyesore (I'm black) to incoming guests. Due to my parents love of the city we decided to extend out stay for a few more days, upon asking the owner and the receptionist if there was availability for the coming days (for convenience, my father is in his 80's) they responded with contradicting answers. This, coupled with the fact that other online booking websites showed there was availability in the same room made it very uncomfortable. All signs were pointing to availability yet they acted like it was fully booked. Following this, we decided we should find accommodation elsewhere due to their attitudes toward us. When asking them to find accommodation elsewhere they stated that the hotels we requested were fully booked and there were no options other than some "holiday inn" type hotels. In lieu of this, made a trip in town and went to those same hotels we requested and were granted accommodation immediately. How can a hotel of this supposed caliber be unable to secure accommodation yet we walk in and are granted multiple rooms within minutes? Continuing, on the last morning as I was going to breakfast the receptionist (gentleman) made the comment "I saw you going in and out on our cameras last night" in a very condescending manner as if he was alluding to the fact that I was doing something suspicious. I was smoking a cigarette and have never felt so uncomfortable in front of other guests. He continued to ask my family the same questions as if there was something wrong. He made us feel extremely unwelcome and uncomfortable, yet constantly reiterated the slogan this is your “home”. What a joke. Obviously there are cameras everywhere and they can see what all guests are up to but what was the point of him making that statement multiple times to our party other than to make us feel uncomfortable? After getting ready, I went down and confronted him because all of that treatment felt as though it was due to our skin color. When I did he, he was stuttering shaking and constantly changing his story. I will never beg for placement where unwelcome or support racist/prejudice hoteliers. Obviously we all hear about the horror stories for people of color in Italy but due to the places we usually stay(Villa la Massa, Aldrovandi Villa Borghese)and things we do, we never expected it to happen to us until staying here. If you want to support prejudice/racist business, stay here this is the place for you. Other than what has already been mentioned, the staff constantly gave the entire family condescending and almost derogatory looks. The other guests were more welcoming than the staff there, how is that possible?
Upon moving OUT of the hotel, we were lucky enough to have an incredible trip. Don't stay here, terrible place.
Great place to stay. It's a very beautiful restaurated kind of old monastery. Everything in and outside is very tidy and clean. From the apartments and the tables outside (e.g. for breakfast) you gave a great view over the city of Verona. There is a very nice and quite large pool from where you still have a great view while lieing in the sun or swimming. Waitresses, waiters and the girls at the reception all are very friendly and really interested in supporting you in every way, so you can enjoy your stay and relax.
We found it great there and are pretty sure to come again!
