Really nice hostel with AC until 11AM. Nice chill volunteers and a decent kitchen with some spices and minor food to use. Some of the Mexican staff are a little rude and they go a little wild with excessive chemicals for cleaning and spraying Glade in the rooms. I little pricey but it includes a bike which is a bonus. Ping pong table isnt really playable because its in a bad location. Overall I would say 3.5-4.0. Close to the bus station which is nice
2 Maison Tulum

Giving 4 stars because the owner/ managers are great and so is the place, but no hot water or good wifi connection.
6 Esmeralda Boutique Residences & Hotel

images
I loved staying here. The rooms are a little small, but the beds are super comfy. It was helpful having a washer/dryer in the room, and some basic kitchen utensils. It's a short walk to all the eateries and shopping areas, and if you rent a car there is a lot of places for street parking. The decor was beautiful, especially at night.
7 Grand Balam Plaza

This hotel was absolutely gorgeous! I loved our stay here. The rooms are spacious and beautifully designed with a modern Mayan feel. There are two jacuzzis on the rooftop deck as well! I also really enjoyed the in-house massage, so professional and relaxing. Breakfast was very good as well. For the price it’s incredible.
8 Azura

spot on
We stayed in the Azura for 4 nights in Jan 21 and we can 100% recommend the place.
Sabine does a outstanding job, from the welcome, to the customer managements until the check out. She is carrying about her clients like a mother :)
the location is perfect to get around Tulum citiy. There are many good local restaurants in foot distance. the room are very clean and pretty. the roof top with various small pools are perfect to escape from very busy Tulum.
Access to the beach is very easy by bike. Sabine will help you to organize the bicycles. again, it is all about simplicity. You will enjoy your stay like a queen and king
PS: We stays in 5 star all-inclusive hotels prior the stay and in small luxury hotels after. So we have a good comparability of top hotels around.
Sabine, again a special thank you to you and the team. we will recommend your place to whoever we know and intends to go to Tulum. The rating is speaking for itself.
Cheers, Klara and Chris (Switzerland)
9 La Palmita Budget Boutique Hotel

images
La Palmita is home away from home. I stayed here for nearly a month and could not recommend it enough. The wifi is super fast, the rooms are clean, the roof is really nice and the staff is very helpful. The location is unbeatable too. Palmita rocks.
10 Layla Tulum Boutique Hotel

My girlfriend and I booked a two night stay and ended up extending for over a week now! The rooms are clean and the tile design is perfect! There are many unique rooms , extremely delicious food and a heated pool on the rooftop which is absolutely gorgeous (see pics). The staff is professional and friendly! They really helped us with everything we desired and told us about a few cool bars and restaurants that are literally a two minute walk from the hotel. Highly recommended! A+++
11 La Negrita Hotel Boutique

images
A perfect little place with comfortable beds, friendly staff. A decent breakfast. Nice pool and fantastic outdoor area. Pretty quiet when we were there but I don't get the feeling it's much of a party hostel, so a great place to chill. Not far from the centre.
12 Downtown Tulum Hotel

Design over Function!
This hotel looks beautiful. Its bohemian style is gorgeous.
We really liked how the lamps were integrated into the walls!
The pizza, guacamole and toast from their restaurant was yummy as well.
Location was great!
But:
No hooks for the towels
No door to the bathroom
No ‘Don’t disturb’ sign
Safe is too small for a 13” laptop.
The hotel in general is super noisy. We had the room in the back but still could hear the noise from the street. Music in the lobby at 6am echoed through the courtyard up to our room.
TL;DR: Looks nice, but not that functional.
13 Howlita Hotel Tulum

images
The hotel was nice. The rooms were spacious and were cleaned daily. I enjoyed the pool area as well. However, during our four day stay the breakfast was always the same with no hot option, we had no hot water and the wifi was very patchy.
14 Villas Geminis Boutique Condo Hotel

images
I booked regular room, but it has large one room with big kitchen, good balcony space with cute hammock. Each room named after famous artist, painting on the walls. (My room was Gustav Klimt!)
Breakfast included and it was simple but tasty, they also had original coffee. I loved their breakfast. Very chill hotel, highly recommend!
15 Casa Ágape Boutique Hotel Tulum

images
Casa Agape was a solid Hotel, the room was nice and clean and the location was great if you want to be close to everything.
Pros:
Close to everthing. Bike rental are across the street. Bars, restaurants are all within walking distance, and the taco stands are about 2 blocks away if you need a late meal.
Rooms are nice and modern.
Cons:
It might be loud for people. There's a party hostel or bar across the street and it might be too loud for some people.
I haven't stayed at a ton of places in Tulum, but this place has a great location if you don't mind some of the noise coming from accross the street from time to time, it's a good value for the location.
16 Aldea Tzunun Hostel

17 Aroma Tulum

My girlfriend and I spent 3 days here in mid October. The hotel is a little off the beaten path but still close to everything. The hotel is gorgeous. A bit dark but I love the style. The staff was beyond gracious. I loved the complimentary breakfast. Can’t wait to go back !
18 Mimosa Tulum

images
Hands down one of the best hostel experiences I have ever had! Jimmy (the owner) has put heart and soul into building this place, with a genuine passion for hosting travelers and amazing attention to detail.
The hostel has a great location, only a few min walk from the main street, the beds are super comfy, you get a BIG locker to store your things, breakfast + coffee is included, hot showers, super friendly staff that always available to assist. I also loved that this place is not a crazy party hostel, but aimed for a more mature clientele, which honestly can be hard to find! There is a perfect balance between a cozy social vibe, and also privacy/peace if you are looking for that.
Thanks for an amazing stay Jimmy, I can’t wait to come back to Tulum and to Mimosa!
19 MAKA HOTEL BOUTIQUE

images
We loved staying at Maka during our first trip to Tulum. The architecture is great and the vibes were amazing. Everything is pretty small but worked for us. The breakfast is super good ( however we did have a problem with an incredibly salty omelette that the owner tried to make us still pay for). Other than that all was well. There is loud music on the rooftop and not many people wear masks in the area. I would definitely stay again.
20 Zenses Wellness and Yoga Resort

images
Luis and Filo were extremely helpful throughout our stay, the grounds were gorgeous along with the room, and the location was conveniently between the beach and the city.
Would gladly come here again on my next trip to tulum. My only request would be more options for breakfast. Although it was good nonetheless!
