1 HOTEL JUNGLE KEVA
images
Jungle Keva was an incredible place to relax. Kendall and Jake have created a truly lovely space. Every detail is accounted for (the pool has to be one of the dreamiest I’ve ever relaxed by). Federico was an incredible host in the restaurant area, and the cook did an incredible job.
We can’t wait to come back! :)
2 Hotel Tiki Tiki Tulum

images
If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Damian the bartender was amazing. Best drinks in Tulum. The manager and front desk was helpful. Even the security guard was nice.
3 Prana Boutique Hotel

images
A lovely oasis, steps from a large grocery store with organic eggs. The staff here are resilient, gracious people. I traveled here with my four year old son, who enjoyed the bee keeping and baby toucans. While the staff and food were excellent, there was a set of guests who could have been more respectful of the space and the staff. There are certain racial dynamics that pervade all societies, and are very much on the surface at such beach destinations across the globe, and this place is no exception. I encourage people to stay here, and be mindful of who are the people "serving" you, and your own impact on people and the planet. We would stay here again, and perhaps just as important, i feel I made a friend here with Fabiola, who welcomed us with real grace.
4 Azura

images
spot on
We stayed in the Azura for 4 nights in Jan 21 and we can 100% recommend the place.
Sabine does a outstanding job, from the welcome, to the customer managements until the check out. She is carrying about her clients like a mother :)
the location is perfect to get around Tulum citiy. There are many good local restaurants in foot distance. the room are very clean and pretty. the roof top with various small pools are perfect to escape from very busy Tulum.
Access to the beach is very easy by bike. Sabine will help you to organize the bicycles. again, it is all about simplicity. You will enjoy your stay like a queen and king
PS: We stays in 5 star all-inclusive hotels prior the stay and in small luxury hotels after. So we have a good comparability of top hotels around.
Sabine, again a special thank you to you and the team. we will recommend your place to whoever we know and intends to go to Tulum. The rating is speaking for itself.
Cheers, Klara and Chris (Switzerland)
5 Elements Tulum Boutique Hotel

images
One of the cutest and nicest hotels for a good price!
I really enjoyed my stay there! The room was very clean and beautiful. Breakfast was delicious and the stuff super friendly and helpful.
I strongly recommend the hotel.
They do have bikes for rent for guests. It takes approximately 20min to get to the beach by bike. Walking distance to all the restaurants in the centre of the city.
6 MAKA HOTEL BOUTIQUE

images
We loved staying at Maka during our first trip to Tulum. The architecture is great and the vibes were amazing. Everything is pretty small but worked for us. The breakfast is super good ( however we did have a problem with an incredibly salty omelette that the owner tried to make us still pay for). Other than that all was well. There is loud music on the rooftop and not many people wear masks in the area. I would definitely stay again.
7 The Strabon Tulum

images
Excellent location in La Veleta and walking and bicycle distance to the main sights in Tulum. Friendly staff as well. I highly recommend!
8 Una Vida, Tulum

images
I have yet to stay here, and I feel it is important for me to write a review because I know and trust what I am going to be experiencing in a few months in Tulum at the Una Vida hotel will be nothing short of amazing.
They have been in constant communication with me, keeping me up to date and comforting me in times of uncertainty with this virus, giving suggestions on places to visit and confirming details for me. The staff and concierge have been such a joy. I’m extremely grateful for this experience so far and will follow up with a review after my stay!!
Thank you Una Vida
9 KAN Tulum

images
Recently I stayed at Kan Tulum Hotel, and let me tell you what an experience!!! Being a world traveler I expected the standard stay and service. I was wrong. Set in the middle of the jungle the place is truly magical. All rooms surround the Cenote in the middle. Once in the water, looking up, you feel at the entrance of an ancient Maya portal. The rooms are awesome and the vibes simply calls to stay there forever. The worldwide staff and overall service was superb, I can remember everyone by name. Be back soon.
10 16TULUM

images
The whole staff gave us the warmest welcome, everyone was really friendly. The place is beautiful, it has so many different spots. It’s located near the main avenue but it’s secluded enough to have wildlife around. I really enjoyed my stay here.
11 HOTEL BLANCO TULUM

images
Beautiful hotel right in the heart of Tulum. Centrally located near the beach and shopping. There is parking and a grocery store right across the street which is very convenient!
Before you book just be aware that the hotel is right on a main road so there is some noise from the traffic that you’ll hear. Our room was also right above the restaurant which played music until about 11pm. Not a bother to us but if you’re looking for peace and quiet this may not be the place for you.
For the price you get a great room with access to a nice pool and rooftop deck with cabanas and places to relax. I asked for our room to be set up with rose petals and such since this was a special trip and they were able to accommodate my request! Check in was easy and we walked in to a room set up with rose petals, balloons and a custom welcome sign.
Staff was also very friendly!
12 Copal Tulum Hotel

images
This hotel was great for price and scenery!
I loved the pool area. It was like a jungle and so relaxing and beautiful. We wished we got the room with the tub instead of the upstairs view but it was still nice. GPS is so hard in Tulum so it was kind of hard to find but we found it! The place is only 10 minutes away from main strip where all the bars and known areas are in Tulum but also easy access to downtown center of Tulum. We were so happy to rent a car because taxis are kind of expensive about $20 usd to get on strip each way for 10/15 minute ride.
We had great service and loved how relaxing the entire hotel was.
13 Casa Ágape Boutique Hotel Tulum

images
Casa Agape was a solid Hotel, the room was nice and clean and the location was great if you want to be close to everything.
Pros:
Close to everthing. Bike rental are across the street. Bars, restaurants are all within walking distance, and the taco stands are about 2 blocks away if you need a late meal.
Rooms are nice and modern.
Cons:
It might be loud for people. There's a party hostel or bar across the street and it might be too loud for some people.
I haven't stayed at a ton of places in Tulum, but this place has a great location if you don't mind some of the noise coming from accross the street from time to time, it's a good value for the location.
14 Era Hotel & SPA Tulum

images
Look no further for the perfect retreat in Tulum/La Veleta. The modern design is exquisite and the property is well maintained. It has all the comforts (pool, terrace, restaurant) and most importantly good vibes. The staff are so kind and attentive. I was travelling by myself and met so many good folks staying here. The free bikes were great for getting around. There is a guy who sells fresh juice (fruit and green) just around the corner as well as THE BEST taco stand in Tulum. Jorge and Elona were outstanding hosts. I can't wait to go back!
15 Howlita Hotel Tulum

images
The hotel was nice. The rooms were spacious and were cleaned daily. I enjoyed the pool area as well. However, during our four day stay the breakfast was always the same with no hot option, we had no hot water and the wifi was very patchy.
16 La Palmita Budget Boutique Hotel

images
La Palmita is home away from home. I stayed here for nearly a month and could not recommend it enough. The wifi is super fast, the rooms are clean, the roof is really nice and the staff is very helpful. The location is unbeatable too. Palmita rocks.
17 Cacao Tulum -Luxury Condos-

images
The place looks great. The rooftop swimming pool is really nice, specially in the evenings to watch the sunset. I stayed at a Garden Studio and I really liked it. The room is spacious, the bathroom is nice, modern and has very good lightning.
To me the highlight of the studio garden room is the pool lighting up the interior which looks gorgeous at night and very calming. The staff is really friendly and helpful, they try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The hotel is not 100% finished but it will be even better when it is
18 Hotel Bardo

images
I cannot say enough about Hotel Bardo. It’s easily one of the best (not just boutique) hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at. The attention to detail and decor was unmatched. Super relaxing and secluded. It’s about 15 min to the beach and super close to a cute shopping strip with several tasty restaurants. Leslie and Julian at the front desk were so accommodating and attentive. Leslie even brought me soup from a local restaurant when I wasn’t feeling well one evening. Joel made the best cocktails and knew us by name. And Fidel! The best waiter/restaurant manager ever! Recommended the best dishes, made sure every meal was pristine and checked on us while lounging at the pool to make sure we were comfortable and didn’t have to lift a finger. I would come back again and again and again.
19 Hotel Boutique TerraNova

images
This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in!
Everything was great. The design is amazing, very nice and cozy. Cool pool, lots of greenery on site.
Especially I want to thank Rafa the owner of the hotel, whose care for the guests makes the stay in this hotel simply unforgettable!
The hotel also has a bar: you can always get a great cocktail or espresso.
Rafa knows Tulum very well and will advise you on the best places to eat and the best attractions.
20 Esmeralda Boutique Residences & Hotel

images
I loved staying here. The rooms are a little small, but the beds are super comfy. It was helpful having a washer/dryer in the room, and some basic kitchen utensils. It's a short walk to all the eateries and shopping areas, and if you rent a car there is a lot of places for street parking. The decor was beautiful, especially at night.
I do my best to keep this list very up to date. It was last edited in March 2025. If you know of a hipster hotel that should be on the list, let me know. Click here to contact me. Thanks!
