I really loved my time at the Ocho. Way cooler than your typical hotel. All the rooms are loft style, so high ceilings, brick walls, lots of old wood. I think it was an old factory or workshop that was converted. Makes for a very cool place to stay. On top of that everyone working there were super friendly and helpful. I like the independent owner feel of the business. It's also right in the heart of downtown. I definitely would stay again!
Room was pretty underwhelming. Five channels on the tv, pretty outdated in terms of the upkeep of the room, but the feel of it was pretty neat with exposed brick. The shower didn’t look well kept...lots of gross moldy stuff at the bottom of the shower door. Staff was really nice and that was a plus. My big issue is with the bed- it was super old and super uncomfortable. Like one of those beds that when you sit on it it feels like it came out of your grandparent’s basement. Definitely I have some chronic pain issues so I’m more sensitive than most, but I woke the first day with a very sore shoulder and the second day it was worse. By the time I drove back to Ottawa it was really painful and I’ve now been to emerg twice with excruciating pain and will need to go to physio...all from sleeping on this mattress that was really not up to par. It sounds insane, but the mattress was really, really hard. Again, if something causes a little bit of inflammation for me it is really problematic and usually grows into something super painful that requires medical treatment, but I wanted to post in case anyone else is thinking about staying here- if you have any kind of pain disorders or a bad back or any other thing that could flare up if a mattress is really low quality, stay somewhere else. Definitely not worth a good deal on room prices.
Friendly and helpful staff. Huge rooms, comfortable beds. This place is wonderful and we will be staying here
Can't go to wrong for the price however they did better and I got a free upgraded room
Great hotel. Nice to be near the market. Very affordable...and the staff are really great. The rooms are not huge but a nice blend of modern with traditional 19th century industrial architecture. The washroom was
