2 WIRED HOTEL Asakusa

images
Really nice hotel. The room was unique, clean and the bed super comfortable. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!! The surrounding area is really downtown Tokyo. So much fun to walk around!
3 ONE@Tokyo

Great looking hotel room however fairly pricy, I couldn’t recommend staying more than 1-2 nights for the price
4 TRUNK HOTEL

images
I have visited only the cafe(bar). Their coffee was super good and I had great memory there as the atmosphere of the cafe was very cozy (it was cold and rainy day). Baristas were friendly and kind, and of course they served me great coffee. Thanks.
5 Hotel Cotoha

images
Loviing this hotel. Came here during our visit to Japan as we strolling around into up to 3 hotels&apart. This is our last and best of the best hotel so far. Compares to our apart in Shinjuku and hotel in Osaka, Cotoha located more than 1 km to station. But.. we never regret it. Stayed in family room in the ground floor.. supeer comfy with full body bath tub and high-tech bed.
They have onsen in the rooftop with additional price.
For moslems, you should stay here since there are many halal resto around. I also find a cheap market near Ueno station
Will be back after this pandemic gone!
6 Shinjuku Granbell Hotel

images
Small room but modern with good view. All staff speak English well. The rooftop bar/restaurant is nice with a good view of the skyline. Breakfast is OK. Could do with more meat and bread but tasty enough.
7 Hotel Felice Akasaka

images
Great, low key hotel. The spa was a welcome bonus. Friendly staff too. Would stay here again.
8 Little japan

images
little japan exceeded my expectations. They were accommodating on my last minute reservation. The staff were extremely kind and friendly. The guest house had a cozy welcoming environment with a modern twist in addition to their english friendly atmosphere. They also have a bar and cafe on the bottom floor if you are hungry or want a drink. They are convenient to Asakusa tourist spots and Tokyo Skytree. They gave me a complimentary jumbo ice cream sandwich. It was a unique experience. I am going to recommend little japan to all my friends! Must stay!
9 BnA STUDIO Akihabara - Art Hotel

images
Absolutely fantastic. Such a great concept. Rooms curated by artists. As a guest you get to stay in the exhibition. And all in the middle of Akihabara. My room was dark and demonic. I slept underneath the watchful gaze of Raijin and Fujin. I've got to go back and can't wait to see what the next concept is.
10 Theater Zzz Hostel & Tea

images
I stayed here and really enjoyed my stay. Unique experience to camp indoors in Tokyo and watch a movie. Friendly and helpful staff too
11 Obi Hostel

images
I stayed in January 2020. Staff were very helpful! I felt comfortable asking anything I needed
12 HOTEL CEN

images
Stayed here for about 1.5 weeks. Found it super comfortable and really close to everything I needed. Several train stations near by and a ton of Korean food options. The Cafe is cute too. The mural on the outside is insta worthy.
13 FOCUS KURAMAE

images
Very stylish, you could say even "europeanized" or even after "westernized" hipster-like space! :) Rooms warm and very cozy, bathrooms clean and you can see that every detail was well thought out. It was nice to spend time there, this hotel really provides relaxation, and the cosmetics and bathroom amenities available there are an added plus.
Service very nice and friendly (quickly responding and fluent in English), all the necessary shops in the area, close to tourist and communication points. A great choice for the first time in Japan, I recommend it!
[on the last day of our stay the heating of the room broke down and the guests in the dormitory behaved very loudly, but it was not the fault of the hostel or service]
14 Nui. Hostel & Bar Lounge

images
Great place to stay if you’re visiting Tokyo, with clean and well-appointed rooms and great location. Plus the bar has good prices, a fun vibe and great staff. A pleasure to stay at.
15 Hamachō Hotel

images
Tropical-like decorated hipster hotel with English-speaking professional staffs. Recommend choosing Corner or Balcony rooms as better view.
Please MUST book the breakfast, it's amazing, and the place turning into a cool bar at night.
Definitely going to visit again in my next trip to Tokyo soon.
17 slash Kawasaki

images
Only a fiew minutes walk from JR Kawasaki Station.
The room was awsome! Cheap in price but super clean and everythings was in good quality. The room concept is new to me and I wish many other hotel do the same thing.
The staff also friendly, and most importantly: treat me equally like locals. I've traveled to many places, and some places treat me differently just because I'm foreigner even though I'm speaking Japanese just fine.
Only minus point for me is the neighborhood doesn't seems like a save place for women solo traveler, especially at night. But it also doesn't really matter as I get to the hotel before night, and ate dinner in restaurant on the 1st floor.
Oh, also the foods and drinks in the restaurant/bar is good. Not super delicious, but a very good food.
Definitely would book this hotel again when I'm going to Kawasaki.
18 Hoshinoya Tokyo

images
Very gorgeous japanese style hotel. The interior is hybrid of western style and japanese style. You can enjoy the smell of tatami. The hot spring is half outdoor, Rotenburo. You can enjoy the sky of the city from the hot spring. The service and hospitality is also great. There are many activities you can enjoy for free or for a fee. Features of Hoshino are these activities variety and quality. The place is also great, you can enjoy shopping at Ginza or enjoy nature around Imperial parrece.
19 Hotel Keihan Tsukiji Ginza Grande

images
Looking for good value hotel in Tsukiji and Ginza? And you might like this hotel. It’s not luxury, but great value room, polite staffs and quiet neighborhood (a park in front of the hotel) .About 15 min from here to Ginza, the old town and Kabuki theatre are walking distance.
I do my best to keep this list as up-to-date as possible. I last updated it in February 2025. If you know of a hipster hotel that should be on the list, let me know. Click here to contact me. Thanks!
