Beautiful building, rooms and a relaxing view over the bay!
Lovely four night stay at this beautiful hotel. All the staff are superb, special mentions to Francesco in the restaurant, and Antonio at reception. A memorable Ruby wedding anniversary. Faultless.
Unfortunately, it’s very difficult to convert an old private residence into a boutique hotel without very heavy investment. The state of the rooms don’t justify the room rates and the service level is not up to Leading Hotels of the World level - just not enough people. The staff is nice and tries hard. The restaurant features a nice view and the food is solid, but earning barely it’s Michelin star. The sommelier tries to justify the flat tasting champagne that it’s a a very sophisticated aged champagne, while it would have been very simple to put a crowd pleasing selection on the wine by the glass list.
The remedy is simple. Reduce rating to four star and room rates correspondingly...
Totally Disgusted. Will never stay at this hotel again and advise everyone else not to. There are plenty of other choices at this price level. We were staying at the Ashbee, and on a particular day, we were informed by way of a letter drop in the room that next day, guests would be unable to use the pool area and surrounds from 3.30 pm onward as the hotel was hosting a wedding. Booking a hotel means that you are also likely to be using the amenities. Preventing guests from doing so is a breach of contract. I have no respect for this hotel and what they did. Zero.
