Over all was good. I expected more clean. Other hostel i stayed have Virus policy, like small health check n hand spray.
Common area was good space.
Breakfast was great, little ham-cheese and 1 egg per person.
5th floor has shared bath. Good for dorm stay.
Check out 11am, cannot late.
Unprofessional and rude morning staff!! I have stayed at hundreds of different hostels and hotels around Asia with a better experience than this. I am aware of the typical Taiwan hostel rules and policies with the normal 11am checkout times. This is the first negative review I have had to leave for a hostel/hotel.
I checked into this place around midnight, after a long day of mountain climbing and needed a place to rest near Taipei Main Station after taking the last train up. Please note: The evening staff were very accomodating and friendly.
The next morning, at 11am my belongings were packed and my bed was empty and accessible for their morning turndown service. I used the restroom then took phone call from the hallway. At 11:30a the lady from the front desk came upstairs to the common hallway and interrupted my call. She said that the checkout time was 11a. I told her I wa aware of it and explained to her that my things were packed away. I was just finishing an important call from the hallway and said that if they needed to clean the room for the next guests to go ahead. I told her politely that I would finish the call and be downstairs in a few minutes or that I could take the call instead from the main area lobby, to which she responded that she was going to be charging me for extended stay.
Typically any hotel/hostel accomodation will always notify a guest and remind them about the checkout policy or ask the guest if they are planning to extend their stay. There was no such notification from Wow Poshtel - instead the staff here seemed determined to make you feel as if you are doing them a disservice.
I quickly finished my call and went downstairs to explain the situation to the staff, assuming there was some sort of misunderstanding. Unfortunately the lady made it clear that she intended to charge me for an ‘overstay’ of 30 minutes for taking the phone call from the hallway - even though I had packed and cleared my belongings. The lady then changed her story to claim she was charging me because I had not returned the key to the desk. When I asked her why she hadn’t given any notice (a basic standard practice worldwide) she replied ‘I was busy’. After demanding payment, she also did not provide any receipt until I had to return back later to the hostel and request one.
Consider staying elsewhere - the standards of service in Taiwan is generally pretty high. I would recommend finding another place where the staff are kind, polite and wont tell you they are ‘too busy’ to do their job.
Bad service.. not nice to Taiwanese ppl.. only nice to tourists from other countries.. bad rooms super small n dirty.. no windows to open.. is a never..
Really cute place. We stayed in a double The room was pretty small but clean and well organized and everything worked. Nice breakfast, toasts and rolls and a few spreads and a fruit.
