We stayed here for a week. Room was clean and comfortable, tho no windows:( and sound proofing was an issue on the weekend when it was busier, (you may hear your neighbors); during the weekdays, we heard nothing, assuming they spaced bookings. Loved the shower, big TV. Free breakfast was very so-so; might be good once if you like/don't mind hotpot. Good location on the edge of Ximending, with a cool/busy taproom/bar at night. Lobby/public areas are nice and comfortable. Good service, I had forgotten something in the room, and went back 3 weeks later, and they found/returned it to me!

- : Got requested to change room on a 2 days reservation. Whole 5th floor was "under maintenance", the reality is that the hotel was just emptying it. Then got transferred to a smaller and lower class of room. After complaint finally back to a similar room. No sorry, no compensation.
From the beginning, they could have put me in the good floor
Got woken up at 7h30 by the staff, a person just asking for the room number. Got woken up by this mistake, no excuse again. No compensation.
A certain arrogance in the staff who doesn't realize their action is having a consequence on the experience.
Cleaning staff hanging out in the lobby and speaking about the room of the guest in front of everyone. It's so rude and inappropriate! They shouldn't speak about the room they clean! it's private!
It's actually very cheap if you manage to book a room while it's on sale. The rooms are underground, so if you don't mind the lack of windows, Hotel Papa Whale is actually a very comfortable place to stay. The rooms are very clean and pretty. Will definitely recommend this place.
Any hotel with a reading room will get a four stars from me . ( a place for book worms to hide among hustle bustling historical Wang UA area) .
