Reviews from visitors:
An average experience with nothing to set it apart, except for perhaps the price. For me, it's a bed and a location convenient to where I work.
I've been a regular visitor over the past year or two, and can say that on average, whereas I was once welcomed with warmth and hospitality, my frequent presence does not engender familiarity but complacency. The quality of my experience has gone down consistently since my first visits to the hotel.
Critically, on my last visit I found I was addressed by a member of staff with a tone and language that suggested she must have viewed me as her subordinate, rather than a valued guest. Since then, I've had to adjust my expectations and from now on will view this hotel as "nothing special." Hotel staff regard even regular guests with polite indifference. Accommodations are certainly not poor, but nor are they outstanding. Meanwhile, staff at the restaurant are - with some regularity - quite rude.
There are outliers, of course, and some staff are genuinely warm and friendly, and you will remember them as your interactions with them will stand out. But so too will your negative experiences and, for me, those negative experiences have now come to outnumber the positive.
It's modern and clean, with the amenities and service you'd expect from a Marriott hotel. But the lighting in the room is very dim, and the location is strange - it's behind another building, and not really close to any attractions, notable restaurants, or the subway. Booking as a member you can't reserve breakfast - this can only be done upon arrival and is very expensive, but through Expedia etc. you can get a cheaper room price even with breakfast included. The breakfast is excellent, by the way, and the 24 hour gym is also quite good.
I booked a room at this hotel for my partner's birthday and I'm so glad that I did.
Cecilia set the tone by making the whole check-in process pleasant. She was able to offer us a free room upgrade, probably because I have a Marriott Bonvoy account and it was our first time staying at that property. She also noticed my partner's birth date and arranged for a manager to personally deliver a complimentary birthday cake to our room. Iris was equally helpful. She received a package on my behalf and offered to hail a ride for us after we had checked out.
The room is clean and spacious. My favorite features are the bathroom, bed, and window seating (in that order). Just look at the photos and you'll understand why. The nice spread at the lounge made breakfast an enjoyable experience. We also appreciated the large windows (we like natural light) and comfortable seats.
Marriott Plat. Member. Still No Member’s lounge, shame for them.
The trip was for experiencing courtyard Taipei Downtown.
Everything was ok, front desk went through all “routine” like a robot without warm greeting when check in.
The room was small with modern facilities, like USB outlet, touch control...etc.
if you are here for business or just one night I would recommend this hotel, because it’s convenience locations. However, if you would like to experience better courtyard, I would say Courtyard Taipei is a much better choice!
Overall this hotel has just pass as the courtyard’s standard, but still need to put more effort on “warm hearted”, “touchable” services.
I have stayed here several times. The hotel staff are mostly cordial and courteous, which is a definite plus for this place, and befits the Marriott name. There were some exceptions where some staff could have been better trained or informed, but for the most part they were eager to help and delivered.
Rooms are only above the 14th floor, with office spaces below. The south and east facing rooms offer a great view of Taipei and can see Taipei 101. The amenities are fairly basic but are of good quality. The shower gel bottle was simply too tiny, as we always had to resort to the hand soap for showers eventually (didn't bother with room service, though I'm sure they'd gladly accommodate). The wonderful Marriott down/feather pillows and thickly padded mattresses are truly exceptional for this class, and persuades a more restful sleep. (I wonder if they'd sell those pillows here, as they do elsewhere.)
The immediate area is a bit quiet, and the MRT station is a 5-10 minute walk. However within a few hundred meters there are some quite authentic cuisines, and would be worth an adventure on foot. The breakfast buffet, while probably short of luxurious, was very hearty and well prepared. It gives you a satisfying start of a day, before you leave the place refreshed and rested.
It may not have all the bells and whistles of a boutique hotel, but it does hit all the right spots.
