Service was wonderful, welcomed with a smile and always willing to assist and make your stay as positive as possible. Rooms are clean, tidy and modern, very comfortable. Beautiful, picturesque pool and bar. Amazing breakfast, huge variation and delicious. Nice, calm, quiet location. Would highly recommend to others & will return if we ever go back to Sorrento.
Nice and fancy places. Very clean bedrooms and cosy outdoors spaces. Lack of covered common spaces which can be a problem when it s rainy outside. My family and I, we paid for a 4 people room and we got a double room, reorganized for 4. It was obviously unconfortable and overprized.
My family had an incredible stay at the MelRose. The location was great, the breakfasts were delicious and the staff was amazing. Could not have asked for a better place to stay.
We were from 3.9. until 8 September 2020 at the Melrose Relais.
We booked a room with a garden pool view.
The rooms are relatively small, but very well laid out. The shower is very comfortable. However, we missed shelves for the wet towels.
The pool is very suitable for swimming. It's deep too. Estimated up to 150 cm deep.
There is a very nice bar by the pool. The hotel is indicated with 2 stars. However, this does not reflect the exclusivity of the facility. The Melrose relay is extremely clean in all parts of the facility. Everything is furnished to a high standard.
For the pool there are fresh towels every day.
The toilets by the pool are also very clean.
Breakfast is currently served in the very nice Melrose Bistro. The breakfast is - as usual in Italy - mostly sweet. Cake, croissants, jam, Nutella, fresh orange juice, coffee as desired. But we also ordered omelets.
Due to Corona, almost only Italian guests drive there. However, this was very nice for us.
Sorrento (old town) is about 3 km from the Melrose Relais. The old town is very nice and has nice restaurants.
The Melrose Relais has an excellent cook and a very nice restaurant. The food and service there is very good. The best meal we had on our trip around the Amalfi Coast. The ambience is nice. The price level is great. The portions are very large. We cannot understand the recession, which criticized the ambience, the price-performance ratio and the size of the portions.
We also rate the Melrose Bistrot separately.
There is free great parking right in front of the Melrose Relais. The access to the parking lots is secured with a very nice glass door. This can be opened automatically with the room card.
We'll come back to the Melrose Relais Massa Lubrense near Sorrento.
Bad experience at this self-styled resort. There is no sea view, but this was clear, but not even the peace and quiet of isolation from the world, since there are houses around it with windows and views overlooking the property. The road that runs along the garden does not allow the isolation and peace that I would have expected. To complete, the neighbors to disturb the peace with hedge trimmers and other tools with internal combustion engines. I had asked for a quadruple room of 25 square meters, I was careful to call back to clarify that although we were two occupants, I wanted the quadruple room as it had 5 square meters more surface. In an excess of zeal, despite my clear indications, I am given a triple as it "has a better exposure". The fact is that the triple on booking was quoted about 60 euros less than the 600 euros I paid for the three days of stay. I find the incident an unforgivable impropriety. The pool is skimmer, the bottom badly pulled, ugly to see. The synthetic grass carpet all around contributes to highlighting the artificiality of the relaxation area. No club sandwich on arrival, a toast with salami because the ham was finished, two cold-stuffed rusks, the fontina was not even melted. The clean but spartan rooms, those on the upper floor do not enjoy any privacy as the balcony is common and you must always stay with the darkened curtains closed to not allow the internal view to other customers through the glass door. The two sofas and the coffee table are useless for breakfast as they are directly irradiated by the morning sun. I had booked an inflatable boat through them, they withheld 30 euros of booking fee out of 150 of total expense. For heaven's sake, in their rights, but for those 30 euros they took responsibility for that reservation. After buying the galley for me and other friends, I went to the pier, I find with regret that the charterer had warned the structure that my 40-horsepower boat had suffered a breakdown and only a 100-horsepower boat was available which however required a nautical license. I call the structure and the assistant instead of apologizing for the incident, for having forgotten to warn me, she thinks well to correct a grammatical error of mine that I had committed while speaking with her. We are at the limit of what is allowed. I found myself having to beg (in vain) for something I had paid 200 euros, for the mistake of an obviously incompetent person, complete with fruit sandwiches and drinks on the back. Upon returning to the facility, not a word about what happened. They have fairness and courtesy to sell, there is no doubt about this. The most unpleasant aspect is the breakfast which is not available inside the structure despite the presence of an internal terrace with pergola (street view) which is not usable as it is used exclusively for other uses (what then? Boh!). In practice, to have breakfast you have to go out into the street and sit in a small bistro, sitting indoors and open to the outside public, without even the possibility of consuming a decent coffee (they serve that of automatic machines) and with an approximate exposure of what is made available: “then what do you want? Coffee? Cappuccino? A croissant?". I understand the covid restrictions that don't allow buffets but you can't send me for breakfast on the street in a little shop, for 200 euros a night. In general, structure and staff totally inadequate to expected standards, pretentious prices in the face of no basic service. After all, what can you expect from a 2-star hotel? I hope I have not made any mistakes or typos given the maniacal, rude attention of the reader.
