Reviews from visitors:
Room is small, toilet is badly design and dark.
Best thing is the bed is very comfortable in room 35, sound proof is good, you can get good sleep here.
Breakfast selection is boring, and Bonvoy platinum only can choose between 1000 point or 2 cocktails, lucky I got room upgraded to a suite and late check out to 4pm.
I will not come back unless they have good room rate and better benefits for Bonvoy platinum.
A hidden gem we found on Klook to use our Singapore Rediscover voucher!
Service was excellent, great location and spacious room (duplex room).
The inhouse cocktails was soo unique, fragrant and tasty, you should try it!!
Definitely check this place out!
Anouska’s Staycation: 1-Night Stay in a Duplex Suite Room with Breakfast, Amuse Bouche Platters & Signature Cocktail, using the Singapore Rediscovery voucher ($100 from Singapore government to encourage local tourism spending during COVID-19).
The interior design is beautifully done and lives up to the reputation of the renowned Anouska Hampel's work. We love the ambience and the drinks at the Anouska bar. The Amuse Bouche platter was pretty good and we ordered two more dishes (egg plant and Vermicelli) from the Yellow Pot but it was a bit too much for two of us.
The Duplex Suite room was interestingly designed with a spiral staircase. Be careful not too bump your head on the steps. There are some slight bumps on the corridor floor which may pose tripping hazard. This is understandable as it is a conservation property. Perhaps some markings may help.
Overall the stay was good with interesting gentrified areas to explore nearby. If I am a business traveller, I would stay here, in lieu of boring big chain business hotels.
#StaycationReview: An astoundingly striking gem in the heart of central core of Singapore right in Duxton. And it only gets more breathtaking from the moment you walk in.
Check-in: Upon entering past the newly minted Autograph Collection plaque at the door, we were greeted with such opulence and feeling of grandeur. The black-and-yellow palette adored every single ornament with pride. As we soak in the sights and smells (yes, the lobby is heavily perfumed), we were greeted by a cheerful Daisy at the reception.
Room: The Skylight Suite is located on the first floor, just a few steps away from reception and entrance of the hotel. Daisy ushered us and introduced us to the different sections of the suite – the impressive living room, the quaint dining area and lastly the lavish bedroom itself. We were blown away by how the excessively “boutique” this room was. Every single surface was clad in black, with highlights of crepe and gold where it mattered.
The capsule-like roof brings back the classic vibes, and of course lots of light into the glorious space. It is the main reason why this room excites us, and this is the space where we spent most of our time in. The TV wasn’t able to do Chromecast, however a HDMI to USB C cable solved the issue.
Daisy also prepared a fancy set of hot welcome tea which we appreciated a lot.
In the walkway towards the bedroom, the cocktail bar, snacks and drinks area took the visual highlight. Clad in its magnificent gold, glitz and glamour, it offered artisanal selections which you don’t typically find in local supermarkets.
The bedroom embodies the Duxton Reserve DNA (or Six Senses Duxton). However, the restrictive walkways and dark interior had my toes stubbed on the bed settee more than a couple of times too. It too was clad in black and simply blended into the abyss-like floor.
The bed mattress itself had just the right amount of firmness and slight plush, similar to Hilton’s and Westin’s. The bed had power plugs and universal room lighting controls on both sides. Pillows were great as well.
The bathroom was small but the layout made the best use for it. The only thing is that the toilet didn’t come with a bidet, and the walls around the throne was too close for comfort. The toiletries were quite gentle on the skin and smelled spicy, like ginger. The shower pressure was good too.
Breakfast: Breakfast was at Yellow Pot. We were probably the first diners as we were early birds. The server Ali was very attentive and professional during our interactions. Being at Yellow Pot for the first time, we were blown away by the overall ambience and strong theme of…. as you guessed it, yellow pots.
Breakfast was on an ala carte basis off the menu. We were presented with baked pastries and juices to start. The croissant and cinnamon danish pastries were definitely fresh, crispy and fragrant which set high expectations for what’s to come. The sweet orange juice was freshly squeezed. The sweet, thick and spicy sauce of the signature chilli crab omelette hit our palates like a brick wall, only to be contrasted by the fluffy omelette.
On the flipside, the avocado toasts with poached eggs were visually attractive and tastes likewise too. The spicy hints and tang were at the right levels, paired with the perfectly crisp toast underneath. Kaya toasts were excellent as well.
Facilities: There wasn’t much to do other than the room and restaurant as after all it is a small boutique hotel, but being located right in the heart of Duxton, guests will not find it lacking as it is just few steps away from all the bars, restaurants and cafes for every palate (including a 7-Eleven across the road).
Summary: All in all, we are very glad to have been through the Duxton Reserve experience and recommend it to others as well, especially those who appreciate art and glamour. What it offers is just an ultra-luxe, boutique experience that exudes its unique identity and stays true to a vision that is uncompromised.
Stayed in the Duxton Duplex suite which was very spacious. Loved the dark wood accents that made the room very cosy. It’s one of the most stunning hotels in Singapore, in a quaint neighbourhood with 7/11 conveniently located right across the street. Felt like I was transported back in time.
Bar and restaurant were great too. Enjoyed the amuse-bouche a lot! The star was this fried tofu dish that tasted like nuggets. Cocktails were also well done, particularly Escape to Kaifeng which was a spirit-forward, refreshing gin drink.
Only downside is the lack of hotel amenities! For some odd reason, the person I spoke to on the phone while booking the room told me there was a pool shared with another hotel but not open to public due to covid. Upon arrival, I was told that the hotel had no pool at all... also realised there wasn’t any other hotel in the vicinity like the person mentioned............
Also wish the room had a bath tub. I think the shower area could’ve easily fit one!
