Acceptable for 1 night stay.
Staff very friendly. But rooms are not well isolated, and could be cleaner.
Location easy to get to but the service is terrible. There was nobody at the front desk to confirm the reservation and give me the keys so I had to call and wait for about 15 minutes to get any information. The only window in the room was broken and had no protection bars. The bed was unsafe and the sheets were ripped.
Mama Brasil hostel is one of the nicest, friendliest and most-enjoyable places I stayed during my 9-month and 48-hostel tour of South America.
The staff a lovely and friendly, and guests always seemed to be polite, and the facilities are comfy and welcoming; their back garden is a little slice of paradise in the hustle and bustle of São Paulo!
The owners Mira and Bruno are a lovely, fun young couple, and they've really made the place a nice place to stay.
Full disclaimer - I liked the place so much, I actually stopped and lived here for a few months during my travels.
I will definitely stay here again when I return to the country.

Rooms are not so great. Getting new furniture could do the trick. The room I stayed had mold on some of the furniture and the sheets & blankets were ripped and had some holes. But other than that, everything was ok, I didn't have any trouble staying there. Staff and breakfast are excellent. Location as well.
Clean, friendly environment. Great part of the city, there's a restaraunt just down the hill that is very reasonable and with great food.
