It's a beautiful house with a nice view over the city, has super friendly and helpful staff and the value is great. 22k for the dorm with rooftop breakfast. However, the fans in the dorm were rattling and there is no locker or blanket. I still had a good sleep, so I'm okay with it.
The staff was so helpful with giving reviews for nearby beaches and attractions like Tayrona Park and Palomino. The hostal is super cute and has a cute little pool. You can cook there. The dorm beds are cheap and comfy. The private rooms are gorgeous and romantic. There was such a good feeling there, everyone that passed through became a friend. I totally recommend La Bella Samaria!
The hostel is good in general, but everything is old & needs to be renewed at some point. They offer a decent breakfast and have a nice terrace. I have been to other hostels in Santa Marta & they offer much more for the same price.
Wifi works occasionally good, but bad in general.
There is almost no space in the room (3 level beds) for your luggage. My backpack was thrown around twice… There is one free bed, where you are supposed to put your backpack. Obviously everyone needs to get to his/her back at some point and it can be really annoying when you have to put away other bags before.
At one evening there seemed to be some tension between the employees/volunteers. Hence there was no-one at the bar in the beginning & later one two of them were arguing a lot. I didn’t feel really comfortable there at this moment.
They are working hard and for sure will get even better in the few months to come. Go for it. You can do more and you will get there
Very charming place. Beautiful building with very nice shared areas. Rooms were clean and we had a beautiful terrace. Area can be loud at night and fans are not quite powerful enough
