Reviews from visitors:
As part of our trip, my friend and I stayed at this hotel and were really impressed. The room was huge, with a massive, spacious bed in the middle. There is a bathtub in the shower. This is an outstanding dinner. It is highly recommended!
Every employee was helpful and made you feel like a VIP. Room was small but well appointed and bed was comfy. Mini bar very well stocked. Bathroom was large. Secured location on Market St, which is closed to most traffic. Use the valet because parking is almost non-existent.
I absolutely was blown away with how beautiful this hotel is. The art was beautiful, the rooms very stylish and comfortable, and the views from the room were amazing! The hospitality from the front desk was perfect. And the valet service was top notch. I can't wait to return again, in the future
I think this is a solid 4-star hotel. Location is great. Woman who checked us in had wine and a thoughtful card sent to our room after we casually talked about why we were in town (anniversary). Good attention to detail! Yes it has city noise you can hear from the room, but nothing white noise couldn't drown out.
We spent two nights at the Proper Hotel San Francisco prior to our trip to the wine country and had a lovely experience. Diane at the front desk went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing stay and made it a point to acknowledge us every time we walked the through lobby. She was a true gem and I don't recall a stay at any hotel where we've felt more welcomed. We stayed in a well-appointed (and very large, by San Francisco standards) suite , and all of the finishes were high-end, even down to the complimentary toiletries. The room and common areas were exceptionally clean, and we had no concerns about the property's adherence to safety protocols in light of the pandemic.
Our package included a $50 food and beverage credit, so we enjoyed breakfast at the hotel's rooftop bar, which offers great views of the city. Although the space is configured for a bar and not a restaurant, they were making the best of what they had available based on COVID restrictions, and this was one of the few hotels that even had a restaurant option because they have an outdoor space, which we were grateful for. It was a slightly awkward setup for breakfast as we didn't have a real table; however, the food was absolutely amazing and worth every bit of awkwardness. (Get the waffle...you'll thank me later. And I'm not even a waffle girl.)
I completely agree with prior reviewers that the location is in an area that is transitional, but the hotel itself was extremely secure and I never once felt as though I was in an unsafe situation. We did walk to several places within a mile of the hotel and did not feel unsafe, but it was difficult to see so much poverty in the midst of the city's redevelopment efforts.
