10/15/2020 Still a great place to stay, the older I get, the more I love this beautiful and historic building! Overdue for a window cleaning, but that's literally my only complaint. Great location and views!
Stopped by Gaslamp Plaza Suites to see my dad for his birthday. The rooftop is an awesome place to just hang out and see the sights of downtown. The rooms are nice too. This used to be an office building and it's really cool to see how the retro fitted a hotel into the building. I can't wait to stay here myself!
Pros of this hotel. 1, The staff was very friendly and welcoming! They even upgraded our room at no additional charge. 2, location. You are very close to restaurants and shopping.
Cons, this one was a BIG one for me. Very very noisy! If you are coming to town to party then this is a great spot for you! If you are wanting more laid back, choose a different place! The other issue was parking. I understand that they do not have on site parking but after paying a premium for the hotel the least they could do was offer discounted parking. $35/night to park in a garage 2 blocks down was nuts... not to mention the garage has more “reserved” spots then open spots..
All in all, I will choose somewhere else to stay next time we visit.
Pros: Staff was professional and very helpful/efficient. Location is great and the price was reasonable. Room was clean and spacious for the money.
Cons: Soundproofing between rooms is not great. I could hear music in the room next door from about 12:30 to 1:30 a.m. It wasn't extremely loud but was a constant background noise. Sheets are a little thin and room gets cold at night, so you may want to bring pajamas.
The view may have been lovely out the 5th floor window, however, said windows were extremely dirty. The units that run the A/C are extremely loud as was the unit on the top of the building. The space was comfortable and the view quite nice but the noise level high..
All Housekeeping employees were attentive and thorough. The check-in personnel were helpful and kind. I appreciated that being I'm considered in the above young age bracket.
San Diego also needs to clean up their streets and sidewalks downtown. I must complement Cafe 21 on 5th St. for the effort they put in to make the street and sidewalk outside there establishment clean and inviting. I did not feel comfortable walking in the evening.
Everything about this place was Great! The Stuff was on point very helpful and accommodating. Looking forward to coming back!
