This was the best choice; to have a vacation that wasn't a crazy, all day running around type of trip. We spent most of our days and nights poolside, or hot tub, walking the docks, SD Bay, etc. With in-room full kitchens available, it made it all the more affordable with the lack of big restaurant bills. Admittedly, part of our vacation plan was to enjoy some cooking time without the rush of trying to cook on a work night. Don't rush around, actually stop and enjoy a vacation in peace. We'll be going back I assure you.
Update- and we have gone back, 3 times as of 2021 :)
Customer service was great at check in, but my "pool and garden view" room was on the ground floor, which made me about eye level with the concrete wall of the raised pool, which I couldn't actually see though the plants growing on the other side of the pathway. Though I could still hear everything going on in the pool area and in all nearby rooms thanks to thin walls. The vending machines outside were full of water from the recent rain, possibly not sealed correctly. Water inside was high enough that I thought buying something from them would just leave it floating above the access door and leave me unable to grab it. The room itself was nicely furnished, bed was fairly soft, good water pressure in the shower as well as the water being nice and hot. Plenty of towels around the room, spacious closet and dresser, greatly appreciated the microwave and fridge as well.
It's OK ! I was just visiting with a friend who had family in town. It supposedly was a suite but.... I'm not sure why they chose that location. It was clean, big, and basic!! Had a full kitchen & you could see boats docking from the balcony at night that was cool. If they got a good rate & where not planning on going to see the rest of the family in east county & just a getaway it would be perfect. Room was a good size!!
We had a 2 night stay here at the beginning of our trip in a pool facing 1st floor room. It was amazing. Room was spacious and clean, walkout patio leading right to the pool made it great for the kids. Staff was very friendly and got us checked in/out quickly. We ended up checking out of The Catamaran a night early to come back Half Moon Inn. Second stay was a little less appealing. We were put on the other side of the property in a room that was smaller, felt outdated, had cobwebs in the ceilings, and a door that wouldn't close all the way. Definitely not the same experience as the first stay, but still OK.
Doing their best in a pandemic and I say it's pretty good! Staff is friendly. They usually charge $18 a night but since I am staying 5 night's the waived that for me which is nice. Grounds are very nice and the views are beautiful. Would recommend.
