Reviews from visitors:
This is a great place to stay, the rooms are modern and clean, great location cool neighborhood close to the park. Helpful staff, fair price and simple check in. We would definitely stay here again.
Unique boutique hotel setting with a perfect location! Staff is super cordial and friendly! Will definitely stay here again soon.
My girlfriend and I found ourselves stranded in San Diego for three days during the February '21 Snowpocalypse that shut Texas completely down. Never having been to SD, and having no plans for what to do while there, we chose the Abpópa at random and were so fortunate that we did. The staff were extremely helpful and did everything they could to accommodate our situation and to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. Twice we checked out only to receive notification midway through the day that our flight had been canceled and each time Pall dropped everything to get us into a new room.
The rooms were beautiful, simple and elegant. The decor changed from room to room and from floor to floor. Each room we stayed in was unique and each had beautiful, original paintings adorning the walls. The queen-sized beds were delightfully comfortable and inviting and the bathrooms showcased a marvelous commitment to environmental conscientiousness. The views from the 5th floor were a fantastic way to see the Hillcrest neighborhood as well as different parts of San Diego and each room had tall clear windows which truly showcased the "sunny" of southern California!
In the entry courtyard is Soet the spot for checking-in but primarily for browsing through a meticulously curated selection of records, turntables, speakers, and other audio paraphernalia (and if you want to learn how to flip a butterfly knife they've got you covered there too!). If records aren't your thing, just upstairs from the record store is a modest little clothing boutique!
Every interaction I had with the staff was pleasant and welcoming. If I ever find a reason to go back to San Diego (can't be that hard to come up with something, right?) you can bet your sweet bippy that I'll be making my reservations at the Abpópa!
Not secure! Check in is super easy but not at all secure ! I was there with a friend going threw a break up, his ex called and pretended to be me and said oh she was too drunk and forgot the room number ,. Then she called back and said oh I forgot my code to get in , not only did they give it to her they let her change it!!! Crazy right. Other then that I did like the place , definitely different
I did not stay at this hotel—but I was so impressed that the manager who helped me on Friday, August 7th 2020: he went out of his way to explain how I was able to secure ample and adequate parking. Even though I was not a guest at this lodging [ I was in fact staying just down the road a bit ]. He also took time to kindly explain to my understanding of how to find accessible parking. I was so pleased that he went out of his way to help me so, that I wanted to give a “like” to him, and his hotel. Well done and many thanks to the manager!
