If I could give the Don Cesar 0 stars, I would!!
We checked in at 3:30pm, and the hotel room still wasn't ready. They asked us to sit by the bar or do something else until it was.
Then, we get to our room, and after I had booked a King suite, they give us a double Queen bed room. I go downstairs and ask to upgrade (willing to pay for this upgrade mind you), and they said they have nothing available.
I get back to our hotel room. The bathroom is about the size of the cruise ship bathroom, we found hair and toenails on the floor and sheets, as well as a dirty towel.
Lastly, we wanted to cancel our second night as it wasn't worth the money or stay. They told us we had checked out, everything was great, and that we would see our second night cancellation reflected on our credit card within a few days. We never received our money back for canceling the 2nd night...
Absolutely disappointed with our stay! If this hotel weren't so old or so expensive, I don't think I'd complain so much. But when you're spending so much money for a hotel room, it's terrifying.
Also, let's mention that this was our mini-honeymoon stay before our big honeymoon. Absolutely terrible hotel!!
Sunset was awesome at the outdoor bar. We also dined there. Charred octopus was outstanding. In the mood for a burger I could not pass up the double cheese burger. It was good and certainly not dry, but I would have liked it cooked more medium rare. Apparently the chef does not like to do that. All in all a great experience.
We have stayed here before, which was wonderful. Yesterday, we had a all day Spa Day! It was absolutely wonderful!! The staff did a wonderful job and very professional! They made our day feel special! Everything was very Covid compliant. We had had Lunch at the Downstairs Restaurant. Lunch was fabulous! 100% fantastic Day in a historic and beautiful Hotel!
Outstanding Service. Beautiful Decor. Construction noise very loud at the Pool. Only one Restaurant open. Great Staff at it. Massage Service was booked up. Only for a special classy occasion. Covid has many Guest irritable and mean to Staff. The Staff handled them with professional skill.
Thomas Rowe clearly understood elegance, he built a magnificent “Pink Palace” to truly see the beauty he must of seen is breathtaking. He clearly understood the need for utter solace on the beautiful beach on the Gulf. The experience was completely first class from the house keeping, to the front desk, there are some major improvements coming to the tiki hut and food beverage hopefully. Other than the mishaps of the pool area, I truly enjoyed being apart of the vision Mr. Rowe had. Growing pains can often be hard, so I wanted to be gracious to the Palace of the Gulf. Thanks, for an experience of a lifetime.
