Fantastic location, great and kind owners, very clean. We enjoyed and we are definitely coming back.
Villa Markiz is an interesting place. Very much more an apartment than a hotel. Our apartment was called Zara, which I believe we got because we paid extra for a balcony. The balcony was fine, but nothing more than that. I probably would not pay for it again. I believe that in total, the best way to describe Markiz was that for the most part it had everything we needed, but nothing more. I would not be excited nor disappointed to be staying there again. The one true negative was the shower situation. We had a tub, which did not have a way to plug, though our landlady did bring one about halfway through the week. There was a detachable shower head associated with the tub, but no glass or other sort of shower curtain to prevent the water from spraying all over the bathroom. It wasn't the end of the world, but definitely strange and inconvenient. The big plus was location. It was located right in the heart of old town, close to the port, and it was fairly inexpensive, as is much of Rovinj.
