Awesome boutique hotel. Located just off the old town so you can easily walk there but aren’t in the middle of the noise. We booked last minute, very nice staff, easy to get to. Only 10 rooms and we had the penthouse with balcony overlooking the city. The owner let us check out late at 5 pm cause our plane as late. He also helped us wi try laundry across the street. Excellent breakfast - and very comfy beds. Awesome!
We stayed 6 nights in room 3 at Hotel Casa Gardenia and had an amazing experience. Our room was spacious, clean and included everything needed. In general the property is well managed and maintained. The owner and his personnel is very friendly, helpful and make you feel like part of their family; thats what you expect from a stay away from home. The breakfast buffet is simple but offers a variety for everyone. Hotel Casa Gardenia is located in the old town of Quito and offers a rooftop terrace which give you a glimpse over Quito.
We loved the kindness of the people and the flair of the hotel. So we decided to come back for another 2 nights in room 8.
This hotel has a lot of positives, but your experience can vary drastically by which room you get in this small hotel. The staff are superb, really above and beyond. The location great for restaurants and the historic center. The breakfast is simple, but above average. I especially liked the fruit selection, including fruit I'd never tried before.
Just try not to get stuck in room 1 like I did. The hotel has an open layout in the middle and room 1 is right across the dining areas. This means getting woken up by other guests or having kids playing right outside your room. Also, the floor is wooden and below is where staff work. You can hear everything from the front desk, including the door bell and new arrivals, whatever the hour.
I think you can have a great stay here, but given the sleeping difficulties with my room I can only vouch for an average experience. In fairness: I didn't bring the issue up with the staff so they didn't have the opportunity to address the issue.
Best stay of our entire time in Ecuador. Went above and beyond whenever they could to help us - beautiful, clean, quiet, amazing breakfast, and held our bags for days while we traveled elsewhere with no charge and incredible hospitality. This will be my first reservation anytime I go back to Ecuador!
