Be prepared to climb lots of stairs. This hotel is a tranquil oasis over-looking the bay, high above the beach.
Pictures online are very deceiving. I felt like I was in a horror movie from the moment I walked into this hotel, front desk looked like a super sleazy place . They handed me the room key along with two remote controls for the TV and the AC. It felt like I was checking into some sort of hourly motel. When I opened the door to my room, I was in such a shuck and disgusted to even put my bag on the bed. Furniture looked like came straight from a Halloween hunted house. Windows were so dirty that I could hardly see what’s outside of it. I just stood there long enough to book another hotel and forfeited my money and left. Funny thing was when told the boy at the front desk, he said he gave me the wrong room lol. Not really sure what that meant since I had booked the standard room but obviously he knew how bad the rooms were. The only Somewhat good thing about this hotel was its location but you couldn’t pay me enough to spend the night there.
RENTERS BEWARE If you complain to the host about anything at all they will write a fraudulent negative review about you in an attempt to slander you. DO NOT STAY HERE, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
I have been to most countries in Central and South America including Mexico over 20 times and this is probably the worst hotel for the price I have ever stayed in. Save your money and go with a condo closer to the beach in old town.
The first noticeable thing about the room was the large swarm and trail of ants going from the window to the dresser and the second bed. This wasn’t a normal “third world bug problem” but a huge amount of ants swarming what was likely uncleaned surfaces. There were also a fair amount of gnats on the dresser and floor in the room.
I checked out the bathroom last and upon entering was surprised by the strong smell of feces. From the very strong sewage smell in the bathroom I suspect that this place has a sewer backflow problem that comes up through the open shower drain.
The shower also did not look liked it had been cleaned in ages and appeared to have mildew on the tile and the grout. It reminded me of the nasty floors of a college dorm shower. Were not picky (my husband walked around town barefoot) but it was gross enough that my husband and I wore our sandals while showering here just in case. I know that sounds crazy but between the smell and the look, we felt it wasn’t worth the risk.
The toilet also had a flushing problem where it actually “erupted” water in a bidet style out onto the floor every time you flushed it. We learned to leave the lid down when flushing...
The hill from the beach up to the hotel was very steep (if you haven’t been to Puerto Vallarta before, think 2 blocks of San Francisco stereotypically steep hills) so it we took an Uber most of the time. This extra $5-6 round trip 4-5 times a day further added to the cost of the hotel making it even much of a worse value.
Nothing was good about the location. It was on the top of the hill near the main highway without any restaurants, shopping, stores, or markets nearby. It is not in a location that you would want to stay to hang out in the area and enjoy Puerto Vallarta. You would want to walk a ways or take a taxi to any eating or activities further adding to your vacation costs. It would be better to spend the same amount and stay a block off the beach and save yourself all of the wasted headache, time, and money of transportation. Enjoy your vacation relaxing instead of wasting your time on this place.
Furthermore, the host is a complete liar and will disregard your check-out and check-in times so that she can “go home early.” Host tried to trick us into checking out early at 11. When we refused and left to eat breakfast she was in a bit of a fit when we returned to give her the keys. We had spoken to the host before checking in and she said that she would watch our bags until 4PM when our flight was going to leave. This policy is was also posted on the listing and is reported by many other reviews. When we went to do this she refused to watch our bags and flat out lied that the “hotel does not do this.” When we confronted her that she approved it before, it was approved at check-in, and it is listed as a service on the listing, she continued to lie and let it slip that she doesn’t want to watch our bags because she “wants to go home early.” We later found out that she had a check-in scheduled for 4PM that I, myself, had to let in because this host “wanted to go home early.” This host puts herself above her guests and will leave you locked out of the building so she can go home early. She will then lie about it and post fraudulent reviews against you on airbnb (or other booking sites) if you complain.
It was a completely horrible experience staying here. I would strongly recommend avoiding this disgusting and rude hotel and host at all costs.
Lovely little hotel tucked away on a side street. Very quiet which was wonderful considering the massive amounts of noise of downtown, a parade and fireworks. Large bedroom, bathroom and comfortable patio. The pool was on the roof, and the bartender there was an absolute joy to interact with. Definitely will stay here next time I come to Puerto Vallarta
Nice boutique hotel. Be aware there is no elevator and stairs to climb. Staff is SUPER friendly. Beds aren't always comfortable but the staff are quick to come up with a solution.
