This place is great. The only complaints I have is that, prior to my arrival, they promised me a room with a great view, and instead I had one looking into another room with absolutely no view of the ocean. That made me want to spend as little time in the room than I otherwise would have spent and mildly soured the experience over all. I asked for a manager upon my arrival to remedy the situation and was told that the only way I could get a better view was to attend a long presentation hitting me up to buy into their vacation club (the harassment... err, the pitches, to attend a presentation continued throughout our stay). That was the second complaint. The third complaint was that since we didn’t give into the sales pitches, it sorta felt like we were third class citizens throughout our stay. Not sure what they don’t get about the fact that I was on vacation and didn’t want to spend my precious vacation time in some office somewhere listening to a sales presentation. So, beware. It wouldn’t have taken much to make this a super 5-star experience, but they pushed too hard.

Hola mi Amigos and hello to all my new friends in Puerto Vallarta. So, where is the best place to stay, relax, eat, drink, and have a great time? Of course it is Buganvilias Vacation Club and Sheraton Resort & Convention Center in Puerto Vallarta. With an amazing staff and atmosphere, the Nine Ninety 9 Sports Bar is the one stop for a great time. Say hello to my good friends Omar and Luis, tell them I sent you. If you want to relax and dine in style, you cannot ask for a better experience than at Umai for Asian cuisine. Let Lia, Miguel, Jesus, Mayra, and Veronica know I recommended you come there and enjoy a wonderful evening. It was such a pleasure to spend my vacation here with the entire Buganvilias staff, Americans, Mexicanos, and travelers from around the world who know that Sheraton and Buganvilias is the best vacation destination in all of Mexico. We have been owners for over 20 years and every time we visit our experience is different. Sometimes good sometimes bad. I wish it could be more consistent. Once good thing they recently have done is updated the lobby and added a bar/grill out front that is very modern and clean looking. They also added a nice spa with pretty good prices with the discount they offer from the staff working the pool to advertise.
Pros: My kids like the pottery painting station. Nice break from pool time. New clean spa. Pool waiters are great. Happy hour 2 for 1 drinks is the best by the pool. Not far from town (the Malecon) Close to grocery and Walmart for shopping. Rooms are good size. All rooms face the ocean. Fireworks a few nights a week are fun to watch.
Cons: The maintenance fees over the years have increased 300% which is why we can't wait to be done with this place. Beach is rocky (go somewhere else) Food is ok. Buffet is expensive and terrible for vegetarian choices. (But they did offer a few Gluten Free choices.) Rooms haven't been updated in 20 years (but there is construction always going on so slowly they are updating). Kids club is lame and geared to toddlers. Pool was slimy and I questioned how often they do a deep clean!!!! Hot tub was green in the grout and gross. Needs a good cleaning.
