We stayed here 2 years ago and cannot stop talking about this gem. The location the best, the staff the best (Carolina). The room was fantastic with the best view of the river. Highly recommended. Pieter & Ilse van Breda. Cape Town South Africa.
Cannot recommend this hotel enough! The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms may be a bit small, but the river views totally make up for that. The included breakfast is the best we've ever had at a European hotel, and the complimentary beer tap in the common area available all day is an awesome touch. They will also provide airport transportation if you book directly through their site. Can't wait to stay here again when we return to Porto.
The staff is really what makes this place. They are attentive and kind. We only stayed one night, but will definitely be back. A boutique hotel that knows the meaning of service. A hidden gem!
It might be a bit tricky to find the entrance to the 1872 River House, particularly after 11 hours in a plane, but it is worth the effort. We spent our first 3 nights in Portugal here, it has a great location by the river in the UNESCO world heritage center. The view of the river from the breakfast room is a pleasant way to start the day.
The location is central, almost everything we wanted to see in Porto we could walk to from the hotel and a number of historical sights located right across the street. Then at the end of the day it was a downhill trip, a nice touch in Porto as the city is very hilly.
There were plenty of dining options close by, accessible from the walkway along the river.
We would come back here in a second.
Perfect location, beautiful place, and super friendly as well as helpful staff. Breakfast was great too. Honestly one of the best omelets I’ve ever had!
