This is one of the best places to stay in Porto. If you get one of the deals on various websites or receive one of the Torel gift vouchers from someone (one night stay+ breakfast), please use it. After having been through so many hotels in my travels, this stands out as a special experience in itself. Elegant, glamorous but not in your face, you have to stop to take in all of the tasteful details that whoever designed, maintained and improved this building and the interior took great care to compose. Beautiful Portuguese design is present everywhere you look, from the cutlery to the architecture. The library alone makes this a project of loving and noble intentions.
This is definitely a 5-star hotel that deserves its rating.
The restaurant has some great options, including vegetarian, and the ambiance is at once peaceful and ornate. The breakfast is fabulous, and this place is one of the few I've used this word for.
The bathroom is covered in black and white marble and the skylight is an exciting, modern feature. This is not the only thing that's modern in this old-glamor building. The TV is a sleek mirror-like device that may as well be part of the wall decor until you realize there's no other place the TV is hiding in, and this has got to be it. The AC/heating unit is also integrated in a seamless way. A modern coffee machine and Evian water made the room even more comfortable.
We really hope to be back here again, and enjoy this special place. I feel like when you don't stay in other hotels, you don't miss much, and many of them seem the same after a while. But this one, whether you like Porto or not, is a memory in itself. You'd be missing out. Take a look at their official photos and don't miss the opportunity to stay here when in town.
Insanely beautiful hotel. Absolutely love everything about this place. Every corner of this place is a pure aesthetic pleasure. Wonderful mix of classic Portuguese villa styles with midcentury modern and contemporary elements. Love the smell of the corridors.
Every room is named after a Portuguese writer. Books are everywhere. Would love if there would be a book in English of a writer whose name is on the room.
Breakfast is in the restaurant Blind, with a great selection of local fruits and cheeses. An enjoyable view to the pool area from the breakfast.
We had a deluxe room on the top floor-the glass ceiling is the bathroom is mind blowing.
Although, walking up that wonderful stairs is good for body and soul, the elevator could be not so slow as it is.
It's a pity that we only stayed here for one night. Torel Palace Porto is a gorgeous hotel with excellent service. Every detail was great especially the professional staffs. We enjoy the stay and will be back definitely!
Overall the hotel is excellent (5 stars), the only inconvenience was the AC that made some noises during the night perturbing our sleep.
