We stayed here while visiting Playa del Carmen and were pleased. This cute boutique hotel is located on a charming block in the center of Playa del Carmen. The building is built in the Spanish style with an inner courtyard that has a small pool.
The rooms are large and comfortable, with travertine tiles and the bathroom has a carved onyx sink. The hotel’s receptionist, Tali, was very helpful with suggestions for places to visit nearby. There is parking available, but it’s small.
The negatives: the breakfast consisted of terribly weak coffee and stale pastries. The hotel is not on the beach, so if that’s an important consideration, this isn’t the place for you. There are no elevators, so if you have problems walking up stairs, this is not a good choice.
4 stars minus 1 due to proximity to very loud night life. If you like live bands until 1 a.m. better than sleep, then maybe this is your place. Wide angle lenses are great for taking pictures of hotel lobbies & courtyards. Much smaller than expected from pics, the pool might hold 10-15 M3 of H2O. Proximity to the pier & beach is excellent, and food & hawkers of souvenirs & tour packages are steps from the front door. Not saying I wouldn't go back, but definitely ask for a room on the south side of the building and your decibel levels will drop by half -- no kidding. Quaint & nice.
A true sanctuary in the heart of PDC. Serenity, amazing staff, and the location is unbeatable. Long or short stays, this boutique property is all you need. Clean, comfortable and a villa feel.
Nice location nice architecture and very courteous staff. Technology wise? Stuck in 1995. Tv at 480p SD. Our bbq on the terrace was destroyed good thing we didn’t need it. BUT all considered, I would go back and happily
My stay with the Acanto was amazing! The room was spacious, beautiful and clean. The views from the rooftop of the ocean and city are breathtaking. The hotel is right in the heart of fifth avenue but on the quiet side so it’s easy to sleep at night. There are numerous restaurants and shops right outside the doors of the hotel. I am looking forward to coming back to Playa Del Carmen and booking with the Acanto again!
