Planned a last minute trip to Playa Del Carmen, just returned from an amazing experience. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect with Covid....Playa Palms did not disappoint! I had an ocean front room, it was clean and cute! I cannot say enough about the staff, customer service was top notch, everyone always had a smile on their face and always ready to accommodate. In order to fly back to the US, we had to get a Covid test to prove negative results. The hotel arranged for the lab to come to our room, administer the test and then hand delivered the results the morning of our departure. Could not have been any easier. I highly recommend this hotel when visiting Playa del Carmen!! Thanks Playa Palms for making my get-a-way fabulous!
I would give zero stars if I could. We booked with this hotel on our honeymoon thinking there was a free continental breakfast included with our stay, as every booking website states. When we checked in, we were even shown a menu for breakfast after we asked what the continental breakfast entailed. Little did we know it was a menu for a breakfast at an extra cost. The staff had failed to show us the free breakfast menu and when we checked into a new room closer to the ocean 3 days later (another dilemma I’ll discuss later) they had us pay a $50 fee for the “free” breakfast we thought was included. I even spoke to the manager and he was extremely unprofessional. Told me that if we didn’t pay (for something we didn’t know about) they would kick us out. They will do anything here to scam you into paying them more money. Huge lack of clarity. I don’t think they understand what customer service even means. Not to mention we payed for a sea view room and only got a partial sea view room with a big palm tree blocking the view. The first room we stayed in reeked of mold and the a/c didn’t work. The support staff was kind but the hotel in general is not accommodating and I do not recommend.
We had a great stay, this place is very clean and accommodating has kitchenette with most of the things you'd need, good size room and bathroom. Not a fan of the layout facing the porches at your neighbors porch but i did enjoy lounging in the hammock hanging on the porch. Most of the further back rooms have porches with a decent view of the ocean to.
BREAKFAST IS NOT FREE. charged me 50$ for 3 days of what they call free breakfast. AC doesn’t work. Staff is awful other than the cleaning ladies. Terrible experience overall
Worst experience ever.. the hotel is nice and pretty and rooms are ok.. the problem is the staff there.. the manager Julia has zero customer service skills.. zero empathy.. zero ownership.. she must be there because she is the relative of the owner or something.. worst manager in the world. I was booked the wrong nights by one of her staff and she took no responsability.. ownership or empathy at all.. Horrible experience.. do not stay there
