Customer service was good and hotel is clean. However, make sure you are charged before you go. I booked online but was not charged until I was about to check in. I thought they could just run the transaction as I had booked. There was a recent change in management and my credit card could not be accepted (this was after several calls to my bank to ensure card was not blocked). I was then informed to go to ATM to get cash, which I was charged a $45 fee for each transaction (I had to do two). When I inquired about compensation for transaction fees, I was told the manager sent me email with PayPal account info instead to make payment. I never received email. I was extremely disappointed due to good customer service through emails prior to arrival. Breakfast is not included (as stated on site) due to bar and restaurant currently closed. Also, unless site has been changed, airport transportation is not included and you will have to book and pay for yourself. After emailing, we were upgraded to a king room due to misleading information. The room was spacious and we were provided water daily. We were informed we would also get fruit due to no breakfast but only received fruit the first day. Overall, it is a great location being one block from 5th avenue. Hotel is extremely noisy and you can here everything but maybe after they finish some construction they have, it will be better.
I stayed here part of my time here and part of the time at an all inclusive resort and preferred the time at Hotel Morgana to the fancy resort.
Staying here I felt like royalty - the service is impeccable and they have excellent recommendations of what to do in the area. The rooms are stylish and comfortable and the rooftop pool was great to relax away from the crowds.
I had a rental car and they were able to organize to help me find a safe street parking spot.
You are walking distance to the beach and it works well as a base to explore the region.. We enjoyed driving to many of the Cenotes (fresh water crystal clear swimming areas).
We had an issue with the 1st room ( it was a little small for our needs) and they were able to re-assign us without any hassle.
The staff couldn't have been any more helpful. Can you have a great vacation in the middle of Covid-19? If you stay at Hotel Morgana to en the answer is a resounding yes.
I stayed here a night after hurricane Zeta as my Airbnb had no power and stumbled into a world of compassionate and caring hosts who do all they can to make sure you are comfortable. I was so enamored with this hotel that I stayed a second night. So where do I begin? Let’s start with Alejandro, the man who greets you over the phone during the post-hurricane apocalypse and calmly says “I have one more room available and I can hold it for you until you get here, Michelle”. The man who greets you every night, every morning, and every time he sees you in between with a smile and an inquiry on how you’re doing. The man who stays up all hours to feed diesel to the generator so that even when all the rest of Playa del Carmen suffers in the AC-less heat, you can sleep peacefully. The man who single handedly runs the show, calls you by name, checks to see if you are rested, gives excellent recommendations for local spots, and unfortunately the man whose business is suffering because of COVID and 2 destructive hurricanes. Despite these difficulties, Hotel Morgana is still a delightful place to stay. It’s location is unparalleled. It’s is a street away from bustling 5th Avenue but gives you some distance nonetheless. It is exceptionally quiet to sleep here. Being on the north side of the city, you avoid the throngs of party goers who flock to Calle 12-20 and exchange them for live music at the wine bar around the corner, the freshest seafood restaurant in playa down the street, and cute tostada places steps away. The rooms are large and luxurious with the most comfortable bedding and beds I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying since being in Mexico. Seriously, the sheets are SO soft. The WiFi is good, the AC is strong, the shower is beautiful, there is a small fridge to keep your delicious French pastries from a few blocks down the road fresh for later, and large windows to let in beautiful natural light (with some EXCELLENT curtains that keep the light out well past 10:30 am if you like it like that). There is a restaurant and pool on the rooftop which I could not enjoy due to the storm but if it is like anything else this hotel offers, it will be fun, stylish, and doused in top notch service. Trust me, stay here.
Good location and service....staff and manager are excellent !
I stayed at this hotel for three nights and had the best customer service I ever experienced. The owner/manager catered to our every need and seemed to genuinely care about us enjoying our time in playa del carmen. He was super flexible with checkout times and had helpful suggestions for our trip. The rooms were clean and the pool area was small but nice. It wasn't extremely busy, so I felt like I had a good amount of privacy as well. Located right next to 5th ave so the beach and several shops were in walking distance.
