Reviews from visitors:
- Room: very nice and cozy. Bathroom really clean and nice AC. 110€/night
- Breakfast: buffet not available due to Covid-19. Still really nice, the chef makes good scramble eggs and the waitress during the weekdays is exceptional.
- Location: the hotel is located very centered but my impression is that the surroundings are pretty insecure. Drug addicts all around. They should hire some extra security in the hotel’s front door.
- Parking: free parking in the hotel’s plaza Brunaccini.
The rooms look very nice but the building is quite old and can be noisy. We could hear everything outside and got woken up a few times.
We did not like the surrounding area at all. We arrived quite late so it was already dark and left the hotel to get some water. As soon as we left there was a man trying to usher us over to him. The next day there was a woman sitting in the piazza with a bloodied nose and she looked out of it.
The staff were nice and the breakfast was good (though no buffet). We had to checkout early for unrelated reasons but I don’t think we would stay here again.
Mixed Modern and old dwelling refurbished into a trendy city hotel. Worthwhile my stay I definitely recommend it to anyone being very close to the ancient and traditional city market of Ballarò.
Free breakfast (very good) and very nice rooms. Located near the ballaro market! Would recommend staying here when in Palermo. Short walk to four corners.
Overall, I think this hotel is a solid choice if you want to be in a central location in Palermo without spending lavishly. However, you will be disappointed if you are expecting a romantic boutique hotel with top notch service, which was my impression when I made the booking.
PROS:
-Central location, near the food market
-Staff is professional and courteous
-The outdoor terrace in the restaurant is beautiful
-Good value
CONS:
-Location is very difficult to drive to and the hotel staff told us they often have to help foreigners who get their cars stuck in the market. We didn't get stuck but we drove around Palermo in circles through very narrow streets for at least an hour before arriving. If this is so common than the hotel should warn their guests ahead of time and offer some help. We drove all across Sicily before arriving here and this was the most terrifying stretch of driving (worse than Taormina).
-Location is seedy at night, even if you are comfortable in cities. I did not feel safe walking anywhere from the hotel by myself after sunset.
-Service was a hit or miss. The man who helped us with our luggage outside the hotel was amazing and deserves a raise because he has the hardest job at the hotel, but some of the other reception staff seemed barely interested in being there.
-Missing the "extra touch" details that really define a fantastic hotel. For example, we had candles in our room but no matches or lighters. We were on our honeymoon and we mentioned this in the reservation but it was not acknowledged anywhere, not even a little note.
