Reviews from visitors:
Beds are WAAAY too soft. Curtains don't keep light out. AC doesn't maintain even temp. Tile and wallpaper installed by amateurs. Breakfast service doesn't start on time.
There is no individual control over the air conditioning system. Everything in the rooms is old.The sink drips, light bulbs burnt out, sun shade broken, could only get one electronic key because they did not have any blanks .Has seen better days.
In writing my review I have to preface by saying that when traveling in any part of Europe to expect "non-dated" accommodations is a terribly high expectation. The charm of Europe IS that it IS dated and so for the purpose of review I would say the decor is beautifully reflective of it's culture and was incredibly charming! We had beautiful view of the sea, and there was a church just to the right of our window where a wedding was taking place with flower pedal's lining the brick walk ways! A street singer played in the evening and the bride and groom boarded a boat! What more could you asked for out of a charming hotel by the sea?! The rooms were clean, spacious, and if there was noise I could not tell you as we slept like babies in comfortable beds after drinking the amazing wine made in Croatia! I would, and I will stay in this hotel again and I highly recommend it if want to truly experience the local flavor of Opatija!
Super location with a beautifull view
The first impression of the place is wow and the beds are really comfortable. However on closer inspection many things are run down. The room wasn't as clean as one expects it the mixer-tap in the bathroom only knew hot and cold. I am talking about a place that claims to have 5 stars. They do offer free WIFI, but when you find a place with reception it’s a gamble whether it works or not most of the time it didn’t.
Back to the beauty of the place: The hotel is situated between the main road and a beautifully kept park right at the sea-side. The restaurant offers tables at the park-side, which are really appealing and during breakfast hours I enjoyed sitting there starting my day.
I returned there during the evening with somewhat elevated expectations; however the night-staff was completely inattentive. I suspect this is due to the fact that it’s the end of season. I had to get the menu, refill the glasses and walk inside to ask for the note. I honestly contemplated leaving, but I am an honest person.
The second night I stayed there was a party at a discotheque across the street. At 2:00 in the morning I decided to call the reception to put a stop to the noise. Unfortunately the person on duty claimed he couldn't do anything about it. After suggesting he’d call the police he simply hung up. It lasted until 4:30 in the morning, I was furious.
I truly believe that place has great potential, it is really beautiful. I shall return there when the place is under new management.
