I wish I could give this hotel 5 stars. It’s clean & comfortable. The rooms are spacious. The staff is friendly. The hotel is beautiful. The only problem is it’s the noisiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Every sound echos through the courtyard and apparently the wall, door and window that face the courtyard have no insulation or sound barrier at all. Every laugh, giggle, cackle, footstep, suitcase roll sounds or spoken word sounds like it’s in bed next to you. They need to invest in some sort of sound deadening. Other than that it’s great.
A perfect place to stay! Clean, quiet, and walkable to Bourbon St. the staff is friendly. Especially Pierre. The courtyard is so calming and the bed was super comfy. The bars/restaurants in the hotel were not open due to covid but overall a fantastic place to stay.
My wife and I stayed there over a month ago for our night in the city. Our original reservation was through their sister hotel, but everything was transferred over to the Mazarin because the other hotel was closed. When we arrived to check in they didn't have our reservation or any additional information. I explained everything and how they were supposed to have all my info and the man at the counter called the sister hotel, who verified my story. He then had to set up a completely new reservation and take all my information again. I explained multiple times that I had already paid in advance and was told I wouldn't have to pay again, but of course he made me give my card anyway. We probably spent 45 minutes in that hotel lobby getting this all taken care of. Then, after all of that nonsense, I notice once we're home that they did end up charging me again. At this point, I'm not really that mad. Mistakes happen, transfers get lost, I understand that, so I call to get the issue resolved. I'm given the usual, "oh we're so sorry about that sir, we'll get that taken care of immediately". Immediately came and went, leaving me still be charged twice for the same room. I found myself wondering if I was wrong or not, checking my credit card statements to make sure I hadn't been refunded, or maybe that the first payment never went through. Nope, double charged, first by the sister hotel, then again by the mazarin. Since I found out I have called over 5 times, emailed multiple times as well, and still nothing for over a month. So, now I'm on google reviews, posting publicly about the issue. I highly recommend that you do NOT stay at the mazarin, as their reservation system (and customer service) are in the toilet. As someone who grew up in New Orleans, I love coming back for small trips and spending the night in the local hotels. Won't be coming back here though, and will keep pushing them until I get my money back.
Beautiful hotel in a decent location (next to Burbon st., if that's your thing). Walking distance to everything in the French Quarter. Good, clean, well priced rooms with courtyard and street views. Vallet parking as well. Would definitely stay again if I'm in the area.
Disappointed. We stayed there a few years ago. It was pristine. It was one of the cleanest hotels ever in the city. It must have been bought out by a chain or group because it was nothing that remembered. It still has the nice floors and building amenities but not as clean as before. Now it has cheap bedding, rugs, lamps, mirrors, etc. It's certainly not what I remembered. I was very disappointed. It's ok, by just ok.
