Staying here in a family room with 2 other friends. The owner Nuwan is fantastic. We were staying in another hotel nearby but I met him in his restaurant in town MR CRAB. he mentioned he had a hotel so he showed us around and gave us a good price so we checked in the next day. We have been here already 9 days and still here. It is a fantastic quiet location just a stroll from the main street and the beach front bars and restaurants. Supermarket is 4 minute walk. Sunny courtyard nice clean pool large rooms large balcony. Meals available and drinks available. On site owner or manager at all times if you need anything. The lady LILANI did our laundry yesterday, washed and pressed for a small fee. Water, fridge and kettle in the room .satellite tv is fantastic as we stay up all night watching English football.. Cant recommend highly enough. If we eventually leave here we will definitely stay here next time in Negombo.. Finally I must add you MUST EAT AT MR CRAB. I am a chef myself and the food here is seriously tasty. Yesterday we had the daily buffet. It was a selection of many dishes and rice.SO CHEAP AND TASTY. Each dish homemade to perfection. Previously we tried the chicken curry and fresh flakey roti bread, superb. My friend had a whole baked mullet fish which was no joking the best fish dish we tasted in one year in Sri lanka. I say dish, as the lemon buttery sauce that accompanies it was similar to French style before blanc/ hollandaise sauce turned it from just a fish into a MASTERPIECE. Serious cooking techniques and I've cooked for over 30 years. The fish was so juicy and came away from the bone easily.
No Little annoying bones. Ask Nuwan personally and he buys the fish that day from the fishermen for you, or any request at all you may have. Ok well if that doesnt get you hungry.... check it out. You will thank me.
I give it a 5 out of 5! Great hotel, friendly staff, clean, relaxing... Yep i'm coming back!
