Very beautiful property, only two years old. Lovely ocean views. Lobby is inviting, great for relaxing and watching the water. When we got to our room we had to take a cold shower because there wasn't any hot water. We did notified the front desk and when we returned to our room that evening the hot water issue had been resolved. Overall it was a great stay. Oh and the beds are super duper comfy. We will return!
Well... when I originally called to booked the hotel I was told that the pool was heated but when I got there and was able to go into the pool it was no where near warm, the temperature of the water was probably 50 degrees which was a real disappointment. Also the parking garage is very small and very close together with other cars and my last night staying at the hotel I could not find a parking spot in the whole parking garage which was very frustrating.!! The room was great overall other then the AC in my room was not working properly, it was very hot throughout the night which made it hard for me to get a great nights rest. And when called the hotel to let them know my overall experience and disappointment the only thing they could offer be was 5,000 bonus points on my Marriott Rewards program. I’m not sure I will pick this hotel to stay at the next time I visit Myrtle Beach!
I arrived Friday evening with my husband, we were greeted by staff to check-in and was told the remaining balance for the weekend and it was over $200.00 more than what was quoted online. When we ask the staff why, we were told that there is a $100.00 per night holding fee for if there are any damages to the room. I was so shock I stop speaking. My husband was so upset he turned red. Once we collected our thoughts, and expressed how disappointed we were. The staff told us we should have called the hotel. Really, we would have if it was on the website were you can see it and not search! We got in the room, it was nice but when it came time to take a shower the water was all over the bathroom floor because the shower only has a glass panel and no door. It's an open shower, with mold and peeling paint. Overall, I was not satisfied with the money we spent. Hopefully you will be more transparent and conscious of your decision when attracting customers during a pandemic.
I had several issues with the room.
I had reserved the room from Feb 5, 2021 - Feb 8, 2021. I had called the previous day of my check in on Feb 4, 2021 to ensure the room would be assigned and no one else enters the room. I was assured of this over the phone. This is why I had paid an extra $152.16 for a day. I had also checked on the occupancy which was about 45% as told to me. I had requested also higher floor. But upon checking in, I was told the front desk lady told me they do not assign the room in advance and would only assign the room when the “guests physically check in”. Essentially, I paid $152.16 for a night for nothing. In addition, I was only provided a room on the 5th floor and was told that was the “only room available”. Can you imagine a hotel with 19 floors with an occupancy of 45% has only 1 room available at this time during this off season and the pandemic? Hard to believe. In addition, the front desk lady was not even wearing a mask over the nose.
I let this go since I didn’t want to spoil my vacation. But upon checking my room, I found there were smoking marks on the walls of the balcony and on the table. It was clearly not cleaned. At this point I didn’t even know if my room was cleaned properly. I complained to the front desk and they apologized but they did not even bother to ask if I wanted to change my room. What am I supposed to do with an apology when you did nothing to resolve the my issue. After a discussion, all they offered was waiving off the amenity fee for 1 night.
Cleaning and social distancing was the least found during my entire stay. There were multiple guests not wearing masks and even entering the elevator without mask.
Given the pandemic, this is my worst experience staying in a “Marriott” hotel.
Bar staff excellent!! Tracy at the bar was welcoming, talkative, relatable and overall just wonderful. She made excellent drinks and was cheerful. The room was also amazing, we didn’t use the kitchen because we only stayed one night, but it was a great place to stay. We stayed on the 6 floor, and the balcony ocean view was beautiful. The 6 floor parking is really nice, not covered like the rest but it is clean and perfect if you want to take pictures or do a youTube video. I wish I brought my roller skates because it was paved so smooth. Overall a great place to stay. Highly recommended.
