Such a conflicting stay. On one hand, a very charming resort-style property with beautiful grounds and a lovely pool. On the other, an outrageously outdated and uncomfortable room that made me wish I was in my own home. The room was balmy (yes I know it’s Florida, not my first stay here) and the ceiling fan was loud as hell. The room was mid overall, but the real kick in the pants was the toilet. I swear on my mother, this toilet was made for a child no older than 5 years of age. I am an average-sized, 6 ft adult male and I felt like I was sitting on a potty-training toilet. This is NO exaggeration. There’s a fine line between old-world charm and just straight up outdated.
Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again. I would visit the property to eat at Lido and enjoy the outdoor the amenities.
Also the construction in the front of the hotel is dredging up the smell of human feces constantly and it’s truly off-putting.
Cool place. We were cruising the boat in Miami and looking for a place for lunch. We were lucky to get a spot in 1 of their 4 slips as it's 1st come 1st serve. They do charge a couple bucks for docking. Absolutely beautiful location and views. Great pool to relax in. Very busy on a Friday afternoon. Walking around the place the gardens were great. Nice tall shrubs made it seem very private.
To start, I have love this place for years. I’ve spent many day and nights here. What happened as of my recent stay I s that I went to valet park my car at The Standard. The girl at the hotel desk said the valet was full and told me that I can park my car in a clearly marked “no parking zone” next to the building, because, as per this employee, there is “no towing” on the weekends for customers of “The Standard” in the parking spots marked as “tow away” zone. That was not true and our car was towed at an expense of over $350. Im very upset at the hotel staff who set us up for this agony on a vacation weekend. I expect more from The Standard. We pay a premium for A level of service above average. This was nothing less than incompetence. When we took this to the management they had nothing to say and no way to even ascertain if they were accountable. They claimed they could not hold their employees accountable. This is not a place to spend your time and expect a level of detailed quality service. Overall, this ruined our vacation.
I’ve been a member at the standard spa for a few months now. I’m definitely a satisfied member. Sebastien gives me the best service when I’m there. The hospitality there is 5 stars with an amazing view poolside gazing the stars. It’s the go to place when you are visiting Miami !
We shared a lunch at the Lido, which was delicious! Our server Vanessa was delightful. She made sound recommendations for a vegan lunch, was very personable, and efficient. I've eaten here several times; once for their fabulous pancake breakfast. Our server, then, was Luca. I'd call him 'Mr. Personality'. He's such a great guy with a great wit, and nice. He, like Vanessa, is personable and knows his menu inside and out, if you're seeking suggestions. Both of these servers are attentive without hovering. There is another waiter there, who I observed while dining. He, too, looked to be attentive, so I asked his name. Malden, not certain of the spelling, but I know you won't go wrong if you're seated in their sections. Enjoy the food, ambiance, and pleasant conversation with the staff and your dining mates.
