Reviews from visitors:
We enjoy the location of this property, 2 blocks from the beach, near restaurants, but quiet. We appreciate the spacious suites and the option to have a little light breakfast, snack or cold beverage. The outdoor pool area is private, with cushioned furniture for relaxing in the sun or the shade. The pool is small but just right to cool off in. The staff is friendly and very helpful.
Me and my bestfriend enjoy the location of this property (3 day stay). We got a two bedroom suite that was very spacious. The hotel is near restaurants, stores, and only two blocks from the beach . We appreciate the spacious suites that came equip with microwave, fridge, stove top, and toaster. The outdoor splash pool area is very private and nice as well. They also provide beach towels which was handed out by front desk attendant whom was there the entire time. We usually stay at another "Southbeachgroup" location but this one was priced just right.
The rooms were nicely renovated, the beds comfortable and clean. The kitchen appliances were nice and new. The issue is with the check-in policy. There is a gate in the front and we were not given the code prior to check in. I planned to check in around 10:30 p.m. Thursday night. There was a sign that stated they "tried to reach to to let us know that we have to check in at a different hotel that's about four blocks down the street." I was never contacted, nor was the other group checking in. The number on the sign that we were supposed to call to reach the other hotel was out of service, so I and another group checking in had to walk four blocks down Miami streets at 11:00 p.m. at night to get the key and walk back to our hotel another four blocks-with suitcases to check in at the Metropole. This is not safe! No one was at the front desk until Friday morning and she said her shift is only on the weekends there's nobody at the front desk during the week. There were only towels in the bathroom, several rooms had to retrieve washcloths and bathmats from the front desk in the morning. There is no place to hang your towels in the bathroom. Other than the check in policy and small logistic issues, they keep it clean and seem to be maintaining upkeep. The location is optimal and there is a nice seating area in the front of the hotel.
I am a travel agent, me and my fiance was attending an event in Miami South Beach on super bowl weekend. We stayed at the Metropole on two separate nights (one day apart). They consequently charged me two different $100 security deposits saying there was no way around doing so. Once we checked out for BOTH nights and flew back to Chicago, I noticed I had only received a refund on 'one' of my ($100) security deposits. I was told by staff that the other night's deposit would be in my bank account soon... I never received it. Since that day I have only gotten the runaround with no 2nd deposit refund. I will say the overall service and room cleanliness was good but when you lose $100 it kinda takes the pleasantness out of the whole experience. I'm giving Metropole South Beach '2' Stars... "they fell short".
