This hotel is perfection! ❤️ Had such a good time staying here.
Stayed there for a total of 4 days and the staff and hotel is beyond exceptional. Location is perfect. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Wow. This is the most incredible restoration that I have seen for a “real“ boutique hotel. Cleaning protocol and service, superb!!!
Awesome. Hotel, rooms, staff, everything.
I'm only half way through my one week stay but I don't think I need to wait until the end to rate this place a full 5 star. Despite having been opened for only one month, this hotel means business.
First, the facilities are adequate. It has different types of sizeable singles with king bed, to junior suite with a bit more square footage, all the way up to a grand suite. With a renovated building, it offers a distinguished classic look from ground up. Sure, its gym is tiny, but if you walk around Historic Centro everyday like me, you'll get your exercise simply by exploring this part of town. A spa will open soon, offering some pampering when needed.
My room has a set of classic double glass front doors (reinforced by a second set of folding doors to add privacy). It has very high ceiling of I'm guessing 13-15 feet. All the standard features are there: safety box, mini bar, large TV, drawers for clothes, slippers if required, bathrobe, L'Occitane amenities, and espresso machine. If I must choose one thing to critique, it will be the door lock. It still uses a turnkey, and the problem is it gets stuck almost everyday, mostly from inside.
But the staff more than made up for this little shortcoming. Concierge Abraham is always helpful providing suggestions and tips on getting around the city. Paulina at Reception pays much attention to details and always greets with the warmest smile. Marco the Front Desk Manager is quite a gentleman who is eager to assist. The entire restaurant staff at breakfast is superb in both service and food quality. Oscar the waiter was outstanding. He also became my Spanish teacher!
I've also tried Tezontle Restaurant on the roof top and Head Chef Huarique (spelling?) sure cooks up a delightful dinner. I had the beef medallion with chapulin and chili sauce. Yes, if you know Spanish, chapulin is grasshoppers! As I was intrigued by the taste, Huarique offered me to taste the "real thing". I tried the toasted insect with a shot of Mezcal, which goes well with it as the chapulin has a sour taste similar to lime. It was quite an experience.
Lastly, a big thank you to General Manager Mara for providing such warm hospitality. One can tell she really cares about her guests as she goes around each morning greeting her guests.
With all the big chains opening bigger hotels, I will continue to opt for boutique hotels in my travel. Casa de la Luz has set a high benchmark for others in the same hotel category.
I look forward to returning soon, but meanwhile, I will savour my last three nights here.
