1 QT Melbourne

Great hotel!!! The room was exceptional in the way it was set up and the decor. Staff super friendly and ready to assist. A refreshing change from the traditional hotel experience. Only few issues, breakfast was a little slow, expected being a Sunday!!! And parking. But overall a great stay and great hotel 8/10. Well done QT.
2 The Chen Melbourne - Art Series

The room is spacious with modern design. Bathroom is clean with plenty of fresh towels ( bath towel, hand towel, face towel and pool towel). The staff at reception desk and housekeeping staff are very friendly and accommodating. Always with a smile on their face. Spectacular views from the rooftop swimming pool.
The only downside is the noise from the streets which is hard to avoid in the hustle bustle part of Boxhill.
3 The Cullen Melbourne - Art Series

We had a great stat at the Cullen, the location is perfect and the rooms very comfy. Ben at the reception desk was so lovely and accommodating to all our needs! it makes such a difference and is why we prefer staying in hotels over airbnbs
4 Zagame's House

images
funky place to stay.. bed was so comfortable. nice vibe and furnishings and modern fitout small but had everything we needed....no lift tho so couldn't bring my mum here unless we got ground floor room
5 United Places

images
Spent wedding night here and staff were incredibly generous and friendly moving us at last minute to Park-facing room.
Best (double rainfall) shower I’ve ever experienced!!!
Great attention to detail. Highly recommend
6 Carlton Terrace

images
So british : the place, the atmosphere, the Lady and Lady's dog Leo is very frendly... TI AMO is the best (not so far) italian restaurant in the neighborhood
7 Ovolo Laneways

images
We decided to stay for a weekend in the city as a little mini-holiday for our anniversary, and originally chose Ovolo Laneways because it looked cute and was in a great location. I am so glad we decided to stay at this property, it was honestly amazing. The staff are unbelievably friendly and helpful, and even helped us extend our stay after we were out extra late one evening and didn't want to leave in the morning! The inclusions are really generous - the minibar is *actually free*, no catches, no hidden costs, no nothing! Happy hour is great too. All in all, this is an amazing property. The room rates are really affordable and you get so much value for your money. I would definitely stay here again, and again, and again! :)
8 Adelphi Hotel

images
The team, but especially Lulu, went out of her way to make our stay amazing. It was a special occasion and she made many small touches, including a message, champagne, and room. Upgrade. The pool is great and the free continental breakfast, mini bar, and movies are awesome additions. Great value for money!
9 NOTEL

Stayed here for a night with my wife. We found it to be comfy, spacious, and welcoming. Whether you’re after a base of operations for city activities, or you just want to get away and veg for a weekend, it’s the perfect little spot
10 Coppersmith Hotel

images
Nothing wrong here. Slick modern refurb is nice but does lack the warm, for me, of old school inner city pubs north of the river. Taps are contracted (I think) so don't expect any artisan craft beer offerings.
11 Hotel Lindrum Melbourne - MGallery

images
One of my favourite boutique hotels! Such a fun vibe and always a delightful stay.
On one particular occasion I ordered helium balloons to the hotel to be dispersed with photos attached in our hotel room for our anniversary.
They kindly obliged and had it all set up and ready to go in the room for me and a surprise bottle of champagne!!
Great bar and cocktails too!!
Highly recommend!!!
12 The Prince Hotel

images
We wish to compliment the staff at Reception as we had to store musical equipment during our stay and they were very helpful. A special shout out to the friendly and super-efficient staff working in the Public Bar where we had a late night meal on Saturday night and then breakfast there on the Sunday morning. The Prince Hotel represents excellent value and we would have no hesitation in staying there again.
13 The Olsen Melbourne - Art Series

Gorgeous hotel in a great location. Room has everything you want (full sized fridge, cutlery, stov and microwave, etc). Big room and well laid out bathroom. Bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. The restaurant downstairs looked good but we had already booked our breakfasts and dinner reservations for our stay in Melbourne.
Parking would have been expensive ($32 self park or $40 valet), but on the weekends there are a few spots just outside the hotel which are free all weekend. Also Wilson parking jam factory has 24 hour parking for $18 for one entry and one exit all weekend as well.
14 Burnbank Estate

images
The house was lovely! The grounds were beautiful. My husband had been in Casey Hospital and it was lovely to go to this gorgeous house for the night, after he was discharged. We had our dog with us and she was very happy. We loved the bed in our room and the bath was amazing! I only briefly met the owner, Damien, but his granddaughter, Gemma was helpful and friendly. We will be back at the hospital in about 4-6 wks, and we will definitely stay here again!
15 Jasper Hotel

images
I recommend the plan with breakfast. I could choose from the menu table that was served, and it was very delicious when I received Eggs Benedict. (However, if you want to eat a lot, please use another menu) The location is right next to Victoria Market. It is convenient to get on the tram immediately. The staff is also friendly. I would like to come again.
16 Summer House Melbourne

images
The room is clear and the toilet is separate for each room. Good hostel, because they keep the COVID rules. We are two people and live in 5-bed room. Nice.
17 The Jazz Corner Hotel

images
Wasn't aware of this hotel until recently. What a gem of a find. Great location. Great views from the balcony. Awesome room, nice and big, almost like a mini apartment.
The thing I love the most, the reason i stayed here is the Jazz theme. Loved the record covers on the walls throughout the hotel and my room. Especially loved the Jazz throw rug and the bed and the bathrobes with the hotel logo on the back.
I would love to buy either one of these or both if I stay here again. Maybe that is something management can look at in the future. It would be a great souvenir .
18 The Larwill Studio Melbourne - Art Series

images
Good, clean, easy access to everything. Short walk from the CBD.
19 Brady Hotels Jones Lane

images
Very clean hotel with a great bathroom. Small room but super comfy bed. We had a king room with proper balcony. My only complaint would be that there's no furniture on balcony and as there's only 1 chair in the room, you both can't sit out there.
20 Ink Hotel Melbourne Southbank

images
I have fallen in love with this hotel. Exceptionally friendly, helpful and basically just wonderful. Best sleep I have had for quite a while, bed is brilliant, coffee flowing and love the art installs by a Brooklyn based Aussie artist. If you are looking for something slightly different, edgy, this hotel is a must do. Centrally located makes getting around a breeze. Ink is into sustainability and giving back to the local community which is a major plus for me. For once the concept is done right with nil snootiness attached. Well done Ink and thank you for a lovely stay, I will be back!!!
I try to keep this list very up to date. It was last edited in January 2025. You can help me make this page better, for example by letting me know of a hipster hotel that should be on the list. Click here to get in touch. Thanks!
