They truly know what hospitality means! Such caring and friendly staff that have answers to all your questions and try to make your stay the best one possible! I stayed for 4 nights and it was amazing, they even gave us some fresh orange juice when we left at 6am one morning to attend a tour. They fixed our shower right away when there was no hot water and the rooms are just so pretty! I will never forget the kindness they've treated us and do use their airport shuttle service as the streets of the Medina can be tricky, we almost got scammed as someone showed us the way and asked for money after and we thought they were just being kind. It's a great price with comfortable beds, wifi and you really get the true experience staying in the heart of the old city :)
We had a very pleasant stay, and the staff were very friendly. Unfortunately they overcharged our card nearly 300 EURs, and when we pointed this out on-site did not know how to use the card machine to correct the issue. Despite various calls, e-mails and reassurances, they still have no reimbursed us for close to 3 months. FYI they also charge a 3% card fee, so best to get some cash out to pay.
We had such a lovely stay at the Riad Chi Chi! The riad is very classic and the decor is simple - very picturesque! We loved enjoying breakfast in the courtyard and coming back at the end of the night to our spacious room and comfortable bed. The location is perfect - right in the heart of the medina and close to everything. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit!
CAUTION for solo female travelers: you may not feel comfortable going to this riad on your own, especially at night and if you haven't been outsider of more developed Western countries. I'm 40, grew up in a developing country, went to 43 countries across continents & consider myself an independent, seasoned traveler so don't get rattled easily but believe this is important for other females traveling alone to know.
I arrived before 6pm, way before sundown & was scared to go through a long & dark alleyway with an arch/cave. There was a group young men hanging around, smoking cigarettes so I was definitely on high alert & hesitated going through them.
That night, I didn't get back until about 11pm after dinner and a drink with a new friend near the main square Jemma el-Fn. I was covered up & wore conservative clothes but still harassed & cat called as I got closer to the riad since many of the shops in the area were closed already. Mostly men beggers & loiters hanging around. It was not A pleasant experience & I was relieved when I arrived safely at the riad. The second night, I learned & went back around 10pm when more shops were open so that was better.
That aside, there's no Outdoor Swimming Pool as claimed. There's a small pond in the courtyard that's big enough for dipping but not swimming for an adult, so also not an Indoor Swimming Pool by any mean.
There's also weak, poor & limited WiFi in my room on the first floor. The weak signal will get cut out or it won't connect at all. I pretty much relied on my mobile data to get connected.
The hotel is lovely with chic & nice decoration, just like the photos. It's also close to many nice restaurants, cafes, & easy walking distance to major sights. Those are the reasons I booked this place and they're all true. One of the hotel manager, Saleh is sweet & helpful. The breakfast is nice & mostly carbs.
I've spent 11 days in Morocco, of which 6 were in Marrakech: a different riad north of the souk & a hotel in new part of town, Gueliz. This riad was supposed to be a nice treat at the end to end my Morrocan holiday where I can swim & relax but it wasn't so.
Too scary to find at night. Hopefully they fix the backstreets to arrive here because getting here with suitcases was a nightmare. The owner is polite, kind and extremely helpful.
