Reviews from visitors:
We stayed here in February 2021. It was about $193/night.
The room was decent. The interior design was functional. The room featured a King bed and a Sofa Sleeper. The King bed was very comfortable; the sofa sleeper less so.
Other guest were very active all night long. Sound traveled easily within the building and made it harder to get good night's rest.
The bathroom was functional and clean.
Parking was free; in a garage. Staff was attentive.
The location was great. Lot's of choice for shopping in walking distance. We loved the Coffee Latte from Black Velvet Coffee Shop.
Sierra Lodge is probably one of my last and least favorite options to stay in Mammoth, after Motel 6. It’s really mind boggling that such places can charge upwards of $150/night (mid-week February, before fees and taxes) with this level of accommodations. My last stay here was at room 121 and it’s a dump. Basement type of bedroom with all sorts of loud noises happening day and night. Smells awful, and interestingly they have replaced the floor with hardwood floor. Bedding and towels are from $.99 or thrift stores. Wi-Fi is not even enough to write this review and phone reception (Verizon) is almost as bad. They also have eliminated breakfast completely, while other hotels have continued to provide to-go options.
It is old looking, but clean, nice room size , friendly folks & comfortable. If you are someone who only needs a comfy bed to sleep after being gone all day, this is great but if you spend more time in a room, this isn't for you.
The Sierra Lodge was all set to receive a nice solid 3 star review. Then on check out day, as I'm leaving my room, I noticed housekeeping in the room across the hall. There were four housekeepers talked in the room, one apparently a supervisor with the clipboard, and everyone's mask was pulled down around their neck. Earlier when one of the housekeepers saw me oh, she pulled the mask over her mouth. But this time I guess I caught them off guard.
I've been here for three days and overall what I saw was pretty good covid-19 compliance. The front desk staff were wearing masks, and there was a hand sanitizer dispenser in the parking garage.
housekeeping staff are one of the most significant ways you could catch covid-19 in a hotel. You let your guard down in the room, and you don't tend to sanitize every surface.
A superbly-run independent lodge. Guest rooms are well thought out, and include air conditioning (a must in summer at mammoth). One of the best values in Mammoth Lakes. So glad we found this place, and we will be back.
