Very secluded area. Great rock formations all around. Creek and meadow setting is very relaxing. A "Tarn" is a glacial depression that water collects in.
What a wonderful place to stay for just a few nights or for a week or more. Gormet breakfast each morning in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. A truly beautiful location with a natural string creek and 3 little ponds (tarns) right in front of the property.
My husband and I vacationed at Rainbow Tarns for our 10 year anniversary. The grounds of this B&B are spectacular and the overall ambiance of the house is warm, welcoming and well kept. The location is to die for with amazing hiking, beautiful scenery, hot springs, and just a few miles away from Mammoth. Love, love, loved it! We will definitely be back!
Shining like a golden trout in a dappled stream; tastefully appointed without being cloying; comfortable as an old shoe with welt and tread fully intact; a bright gem in the bejeweled setting of the high Sierras is the Rainbow Tarns B&B. Brock and Diane Thoman, the owners, have successfully added modern amenities without detracting from the structures rustic nature and are an engaging source for information and conversation. Brock, an architect by training, summons his inner artistry in preparing breakfasts that are both aesthetically pleasing and filling. Altogether, a B&B offering the best in R&R.
We've stayed here 3 times, bringing 2 other couples to fill the rooms. Everyone we bring LOVES this place. The breakfasts aren't those cheapo sugary/carb breakfasts; they are more like a full-course brunch! Wonderful selection of wines & cheeses each day. Brock & Diane are warm and hospitable hosts ~ (so is Gibbs the dog!) We'll be back next year with more friends! Thank you B&D
