Fantastic rooms, great place and located right in the centre. Price for this class of hotel was very reasonable. Owned by the Derby chain, so book from the UK to get a better price.
One of my favourite hotels in Madrid. A regular for years but stopped for a while. Very happy to be back and being recognised by all the staff.
The hotel is very central, a few minutes walk from the popular Plaza Santa Ana and easy walk to Plaza Mayor. This is a very lively area with restaurants and bars everywhere but the hotel is in a quiet street, opposite the Parliament so very safe as there is police presence.

One of the most fabulous hotel experiences. Great rooms, fabulous views. Superb service. All the family had a marvellous stay here.
Wonderful hotel! Great location (walking distance from almost everything), friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms, complimentary bottles of water. Requests were handled promptly and I appreciated being able to check in earlier than is typical. I would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in the city center and would definitely stay here again.
I search for other hotels in Madrid only if there are no available rooms in Villa Real for my dates. If it was up to me, I wouldn't look for another one to stay in.
