Invited in to the Soft Opening, took in the great new remodel for a good 45 min and spoke with 1 of the owners of the property. Told to make ourselves at home until 1 of the Convention managers escorted us out cause I didn't have my phone with the invitation email. Not a good start for this new property. Property and rebrand look Great! Staff needs a little hospitality training.....
I was actually surprised at how the transformation from Hard Rock Casino to Virgin Hotel was not that great. It seemed unfinished. I was very excited to try Night + Market because that I'd one of my favorite restaurants in Silverlake but it was not what I expected. The design was weird and the food and service was just okay.
Absolutely awful customer service on their opening night. Attempted to purchase two bottles of alcohol from the Hudson store (Yes the same ones that are normally overpriced in the airports) which were clearly priced at $30 cheaper than they were ringing up. I work in customer service and understand that mistakes happen, but every bottle of two different brands were clearly not tagged correctly. Rather than addressing the issue the manager choose to tell us we had to pay the scanned price because they "couldn't offer discounts" even though it was their mistake. No attempt to even pretend to care about retaining business on their opening night. As a local I will gladly spend, and loose, my money at another one of the many casinos who at least make an effort to address their mistakes.
The rest of the casino is honestly not that impressive because it's still Hard Rock without the things that made the Hard Rock awesome.
It was a little busy but to have only 4 slot attendees the service was not what we expected. It was less than sub-par. I actually left my $23.00 voucher in the slot machine when it jammed and was in the lock position. We waited over 35 minutes and security tried to call for us but no response. There was plenty of security. They were very friendly. I did not receive any of my points because they did not have cards to print at the black jack table. I gota rated fir that but not the 3 hours of play on the slots. 1st impressions are very important and I expected more but the casino failed in a few areas. We might give it another try, another day.
A step down from the Hard Rock. Choppy interior with no real flow. Looks like a convention hotel in any city. Let's see how long their light pink and ivory carpet lasts in the high traffic areas not to mention the white walls. Removed the lovely Center Bar and tucked a new bar in the corner under a white dome, claustraphopic with little ambiance. Their cafe is overpriced with uncomfortable wooden chairs and a tiny menu. The interior is reminiscent of a Stations Casino buffet. Really loud music with an awful selection of songs, couldn't hear our dinner conversation. I so wanted to like the new Virgin hotel but have to say I was truly underwhelmed.
