Beautiful hotel with clean rooms, great breakfast and very helpful staff. A few caveats...parking is available but not free and in a secure lot across the street. They essentially require payment in cash...if using credit they will add on 19% tax. Aside from a small portable space heater, the rooms are unheated, though there is a very nice electric blanket on the bed. The cold didn't bother me much, but if you come in the winter and tend to run cold, be forewarned.
Great place to stay, very beautifully decorated and cosy. Some receptionists speak very well English. Only the water in the shower could have been a little warmer in one of the 2 rooms we stayed in.
I travelled there with a group of friends booking last minute by call. Even though we had a shared bathroom, the place was very cozy and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The room was clean providing heating blankets as well. The personel was gentle and helpfull with any kind of request we made. Private parking is provided and the security is available from 12 pm. Breakfast was awesome with a huge variety of cereal, spices, salumi and cakes. I also had one of the best coffee in Chile.
We decided to spent a few days in La Serena, Chile for vacations and this place was absolutely awesome. We did our reservation directly, the stuff was really helpful, patient and caring. We ended up getting sick and not able to arríele on the date of our reservation, they were so kind and did not charge us for changing the date. Our rom was very comfortable and super clean, the sheets and towels smelled clean. Our daughter got sick with a fever and the owner of the establishment was really concerned and kind, she gave us medication and was very helpful. The free breakfast was a typical Chilean breakfast, it was really good. The place was rather smaller than I thought nonetheless it was really charming. Inside there is a little shop with handcrafted items made by local respected artists and artisans we bought a few items made out of linen and virgin wool. The prices were good and the owner was more than willing to give a discount if paying cash. We were very satisfied and happy to stay at this hostal. It is a block from the central plaza and city center. There are lots of shops around and restaurants. We are thankful for the care and patience of the owner and staff members especially the owner of this place. We certainly will be back.

Everyone is pleasant and very helpful. The rooms were very clean and the gardens were quiet and pleasant. I would not hesitate to stay here again
if I am back in La Serena. I would recommend the Terra highly.
