We had a wonderful experience at Kyoto Kamanza Hotel. It was spotlessly clean and Sam is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Although the hotel doesn’t serve breakfast, there is a cafe that is steps away with very well priced breakfast and excellent coffee, at the recommendation of Sam. Our room came with any bathroom product we could possible want or need and an excellent hair dryer that I want to buy for my own house! Each bed came with pajamas and the beds were very comfortable. Our room was spacious. The location is walkable to the Gion district, shrines, Nijo castle, and temples, as well as plenty of restaurants. The bus stop was a short walk and we took a cab from the train station.
We would stay here again and will recommend Kyoto Kamanza Hotel to others.
Very clean. Great customer service. Good location. And there was a chu-hi vending machine in the hall!
My partner and I stayed here in February, and among the things we miss most from our trip to Japan, is the Kyoto Kamanza Hotel! After our train ride into Kyoto from Tokyo, we were pleasantly surprised that the manager had upgraded us to a 2-queen suite. The room was large and modern, equipped with a large wardrobe and a separate bench for laying out our suitcases. The bathroom was perfect, including tons of toiletries, double vanities, and a split shower room with huge bathtub (I'm 6'2" and could stretch out).
Being a slightly smaller property (fewer than 12 rooms if I remember correct) you could sense the attention and care paid to each room and guest. The manager and day staff were always at the front desk to offer directions, recommendations, etc. The size also meant it was essentially silent during our entire visit, with no other guest noise.
The hotel was conveniently located, only a five minute walk and five minute train ride to Kyoto Station which made it extra easy to enjoy day trips to Nara and Osaka. It was also less than twenty minute walks from tons of must-sees (Nishiki Market, Ponto-Cho Alley, Nijo Castle, the Imperial Palace, Ninezaka/Sanenzaka, and many many shrines).
The highest recommendations I can give in Kyoto are for this hotel, and the bakery just two blocks away, at which we ate multiple mornings (Flip-Up Bakery, seriously a must).
I was travelling with my niece and we booked this Beautiful cosy hotel. The do not have that many rooms but they are beautiful appointed. We booked a junior suite, there was a traditional seating area with cuts in and table. The room was very large, the twin beds were comfortable and spacious. Bathroom had a Japanese style wet room where you can shower and bath, as per tradition the bath tab overflows into the shower area to allow fresh water to run through whilst bathing.
The staff all spoke very good English and they were extremely friendly and genuine. Jun who I had been in touch before arriving showed us all the places to visit.
Unfortunately I do not remember the three ladies name that were working at the desk but I would like to say that they were wonderful.
Thank you all for making our stay so comfortable.
We enjoyed our stay at the Kamanza Hotel. It is located in a very comfortable and quiet area of Kyoto. We found the access to the metro system to be very handy. The staff was very helpful, warm and welcoming. The staff provided very helpful information to our questions about site to see and how to get to them. The rooms are very nice, very clean and comfortable. We had plenty of space and a very comfortable bed to sleep in after our busy days in Kyoto. Would definitely stay at this Hotel again. Our hostess was very nice when we first arrived. They stored our packs and placed them in our room for us. This allowed us to make better use of our time to see the sites in Kyoto. They helped us to determine our best routes for transit to get to our sites and this was all done in english which we appreciated. Loved our stay!
