I couldn't recommend this place enough. The family that own it are lovely, the food is delicious and rooms are clean. If you want a relaxed stay in Kyoto right next to be beautiful Japanese garden. Stay here.
We stayed two nights here and had such a wonderful experience! The family is so kind; they always greeted us with a “welcome home!” When we arrived at the inn. We loved the Japanese style breakfasts beside the garden and the provided kimonos! The bed was more comfortable than I expected, and the room was quite spacious. We had a private sink area for brushing teeth, washing hands, makeup, etc. We reserved the family onsen one evening and it was lovely as well. Though it was a slight inconvenience to venture to the new-style toilet, I would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat. Though it was a very authentic Japanese experience that was foreign to me, they made us feel right at home. Did I mention the breakfasts were delicious?? And so filling! If you’re used to eating an American breakfast of cereal or pop-tarts you will need to shift your perspective here. Fish for breakfast was surprising, but again it was so good we just gobbled it up. This is a lovely, authentic experience at a great price, and a convenient location. It was easy for us to walk to and from train stations, even with our luggage. I would absolutely recommend this ryokan to anyone looking for someplace to stay in Kyoto, and hope we can visit again someday.
Incredibly awesome owners. The room was perfect, with a view overlooking a courtyard perfect for sipping tea. Breakfast was delicious, and different both days. The bath was very relaxing. The staff were able to communicate effectively in Japanese, and English. Amazingly convenient location.
I loved this place! I stayed for one night and even though I didn't get to interact much with the family, they were extremely hospitable and kind. They spoke some English and we didn't have any problems communicating with each other. Even though the house may look old, it only adds to its charm. The room was extremely spacious and clean and the location is close to Kyoto Station, which was central to most places I wanted to visit.
Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Run by a lovely family who make you feel immediately at home. Meals are a specialty too.
So glad we stayed here. Thank you
